What would your idea of the ultimate console be?

My question is, why would you think a "universal console" would be a bad idea? what are the pros and cons in your eyes?

What is the purpose of difficulty levels and difficulty curves in modern games? When I recommend a "gateway" game to a casual gaming friend, they are often frustrated that the lowest difficulty is still too hard. Also, many recent games are made without any semblance of a difficulty curve, Witcher 2 being a particularly radical example. Even friends who consider themselves hardcore feel stymied by The Witcher's opening. Why do developers bother putting in difficulty levels if they aren't willing to make the game accessible for casual gamers? Should they set up CD Projekt's merciless skill-barrier or take gateway gamers into account?

In an age where the violent FPS is king, I felt one E3 s more of the more refreshing announcements this year was the resurrection of the Sly Cooper franchise. While Gears and CoD are certainly fun quality titles, there seems to be a substantial percentage of gamers who feel fatigued by this sort of hyper masculine gun toting trend.
At the dawn of the PS2, games like Sly Cooper and Ratchet & Clank drew in a whole new generation of gamers. There was something so compelling about the look and feel of these 3D worlds, offering a sense of adventure and style that just hadn t been there before. Sadly if these games had been pitched today, I doubt they would have ever seen development. I m waiting for the Jak and Daxter, or Psychonauts of this console generation, but I have yet to see it.
Could the commercial success of Sly 4 convince big name developers to put down the heavy artillery for a minute and give all ages creativity a try?

First we saw Square make some missteps with their barrage of Final Fantasy entries, and now Capcom seems to have rubbed their consumers the wrong way with their new MvC release and the demise of Mega Man Legends 3. Are our once beloved companies stumbling?

Dear Doctors Sessler and Whoever Else is On,
So now that the PS Vita has been delayed, how big of a gap do you think Nintendo can put between the Vita and the 3DS given the new, reduced price and slew of holiday titles?
And now that the Vita has been pushed to 2012, what do you think this means for the Vita and the WiiU? Do you think that some people who would have otherwise gotten the Vita as a gift or something along those lines in Holiday 2011 will just hold on to their money for the WiiU?
Also did you guys just not know about the FIFTEEN other games in the Ambassador program?

I recently read an article on Kotaku about how Nintendo's recent losses aren't due to its lack of decent hardware--it's due to it's lack of decent games. This struck a chord with me, as (until about a year ago) I've been a die-hard Nintendo fan. I bought my brother a new 360 and haven't even so much as looked at my Wii for the past six months. For years, I remember looking forward to buying games like Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Bros., and Metroid. But not anymore. I can't even tell you the last time I've played one of those games. My question is this:
With its failed launch of the 3DS and the upcoming launch of the Wii U, what do you think Nintendo's strategy will be for the future? Obviously, they NEED to remember that their classic franchises are what keep people coming back for more, but will that be enough? Can they continue to ride on the Legend of Zelda remakes, the Super Smash Bros updates (really, that's all they are), or the Metroid re-imaginings (however horrible they may be) forever? Everyone knows what Nintendo needs to do, but my question is do you think they will do it?

With all the big games coming out this holiday season, and the announcement of the PS Vita getting moved to early 2012. Could it be a good idea for Blizzard to actually not rush to get Diablo 3 out in time for the holidays but to actually wait for summer of 2012 where they'll have a open window to dominate the market?

The recent announcement that the Vita will not be available in North America this holiday season pretty much closes the door for any new and exciting game tech this year. With Nintendo taking a hit on the 3DS this year, does it make any real difference if the Vita is available this year or not? Also, do you think that the Vita will be launched with a wider selection of games, making it that "must have" handheld that everyone will want in spite of its release date?

With Valve's announced Gamescom tournament for DoTA 2, for Mac & PC, do you think they will expand their PS3 Steam game library beyond Portal 2?
Making Steam available on consoles seemed like a very sexy evolution for the tech and with publishers getting into the digital delivery market so aggressively (EA/Origin) dominating consoles early is the right move. Steam could even support the burgeoning Vita segment of the market. It seems uncharacteristic that Valve would not have the vision to expand Steam into a more dominant position.

I think Sony's got a lot on the line with the Playstation Vita. The PSP has a terrible history with piracy and we all know about what happened with PSN, plus this new AT&T thing; What do you think Sony's plans are to make the Vita an all round secure, reliable device that doesn't get hacked? (online and off).
