Battlefield 3 Pre-Orders Get You Free Stuff With Select Retailers

Electronic Arts revealed the Back to Karkand DLC bonus for Battlefield 3 back in February, a multiplayer map pack included with all pre-ordered copies of the game. There's more free stuff to be had though, as a new Battlefield Blog post reveals the retailer-specific bonuses you can nab alongside Karkand later this year.

GameStop pre-orders come with the Physical Warfare pack, which was previously announced as a pre-order offer from UK retailers GAME and Gamestation UK. The pack adds four weapons/accessories to BF3: Type 88 LMG, DAO-12 shotgun, flechette ammo for the DAO-12 and a flash suppressor for the SKS sniper rifle. The shotgun previously appeared in Battlefield 2 and the Type 88 LMG, in Bad Company 2.

From the sound of things, that's the best of the bonuses too. Best Buy pre-orders come with the SPECACT Kit, which adds eight additional multiplayer skins to the game. Finally, an Amazon pre-order nets you an exclusive set of dogtags for multiplayer (the game features custom dogtags, FYI).

Free weapons vs. free skins vs. free custom dogtags. There's an easy choice to make.

Oh BTW all the 'free weapons' you get at game stop are not exclusive. They are just early unlocks so those of us who will just play the game will get them when we get them.

I'd like to see the specact stuff before I order it. The Amazon dog tags show a freaking DINOSAUR so right now they're kind of winning me over right now. I can't imagine the weapons being anything game changing or something I couldn't get later on in the game.

I'd rather have the SPECACT bonus if it works like in BC2. Having 2 of each kit ready will save me time when I need to switch weapons and gear. So I can have an AA engy ready and an AT one as well. Or a Sniper recon, and a rush recon.

Pre-ordering on EA's Origin service for PC players will grant you early access to the September beta, the Physical Warfare pack, some Battlefield: Play4Free items, Back to Karkand, and the ability to play as soon as it unlocks on release date.

After playing the BF3 alpha, I'm probably going to be pre-ordering it on Origin. It would have been nice if it was on Steam, but after seeing how much the game will be integrated with other services, I think it's best just to get it the way it's meant to be played.

However, it's still a shame that Origin is such a rip-off of Steam.

The weapons can be unlocked later in the game. The skins and dog tags cannot

Nevermind, I misread that sentence. GS is the best.

I'd like to see the skins before I decide...

But when he says there is an obvious choice what choice is he referring to? I assume the BestBuy one since he said that was the best.
