Dota 2 One Million Dollar Tournament Announced For Gamescom

Valve has announced they will be holding a Dota 2 tournament called "The International" for one million dollars at GamesCom in Cologne, Germany August 17-21. This will be the first time that the public will get to see the top down action game that Valve announced last October.

The International will feauture 16 of the world's best Dota teams competing through a group stage, double elimination playoff format.

"The International is the first public Dota 2 event and will give the tens of millions of gamers playing Dota around the world their first look at the new game," said Gabe Newell, president and founder of Valve.  "I have had the good fortune to watch the competitors as they prepare for the tournament, and the level of play is extraordinary."

As a lover of both Valve and Dota, I'm extremely pumped up to finally see Dota 2 for the first time in only a few weeks. Plus, with such an astronomically high prize pool at stake, the teams competing will surely have some thrilling games.

When we have more information about how to get the live stream to you, we'll let you know.
