Our own Kevin Kelly was down at the Comic-Con this past weekend, and got his hands on Darksiders 2. A fan of the first game, Kevin was very impressed with what he saw of the sequel. Here's a bit of his preview, detailing the differences between the first game and the second:
"The original Darksiders was a mixture of God of War and Zelda, with combat and platforming puzzle elements borrowed from both, and Darksiders 2 follows that same path while adding a heavy dose of role-playing. Madureira stopped short of calling the new game an RPG, but said it comes pretty close. He also said that the team was nervous about changing the protagonist from War to Death, especially since the first game was a success. Joking that they did it 'just to be annoying,' Madureira and team overhauled much of the interface and gameplay in the process. This time you'll get armor and weapon drops as well as cash when you defeat enemies, and those equippable items will be visible on Death, and will affect his stats."
Check out the rest of our Darksiders 2 preview.

My only potential disappointment with this title is that I takes place on a parallel timeline as the first game. We know how that one ended so we know this one will end...it's as if picking up where the last one ended would have been too complicated so they avoided a potentially annoying prequel and gave you an alternate adventure. My guess is that it gave them time to work out the gameplay animations and mechanics of a new character before they work out the rest for the 3rd game which will likely involve the other horsemen and some likely multiplayer.

Hopefully it will be better than the first one (which I found rather boring).

Darksiders was awesome and I'm sure the second will be just as good.
Good thing the person that gave Darksiders a 2/5 no longer reviews games. That was probably one of the worst reviews I've ever seen on Xplay. Almost as bad as the Other M review....which was from the same person O.o

Really? this sounds just like an RPG which is great. But here is my question, as also a huge fan of the first one. What really happened to War? he didnt died. And what about the other 2 Horsemen? they did also dropped down to Earth along side of Death. would they be integrated into this game?
