The MK9 DLC fighters welcome a new kombatant: Freddy Krueger is joining the Mortal Kombat 9 roster as the final Mortal Kombat DLC fighter for the summer. Freddy Krueger will be available August 9 and cost $4.99, or if you thought ahead to buy the Summer Pass, he's free! The walking nightmare on Elm Street (see what I did there?) looks to be a pretty quick and agile fighter, and his brutality certainly fits the Mortal Kombat universe. Want to see him in action? Although the Freddy Krueger fatalities may not be as imaginative or nightmare fueling as some of the scenes in the movies (I will never forget watching a little girl get eaten) they pay an homage to the Krueger legacy in fitting fashion. Next great mystery? The Freddy Krueger babality. Hop to it, Internet!

Maybe they should fix the mp lag so it's playable before working out dlc, i'm ready to trade in this game all my offline achievements are complete. But even tho my wifi is optimal for online gaming the lag makes it dare i say...a new nightmare..ZING!

Notice how all the casual MK9 fans are excited... but the hardcore ones are like "what the hell is this?". Tom Brady said himself that Nether Realm Studios are dumb for this addition.

I was expecting like one of the old rumored characters from original MK games. But this is by far better. Certainly I can see the benefit to Freddy. And yes, each time Netherealm puts out a dlc package, I would love to see some of the other greats in there (If Bruce Campbell shows up, I'll flip out). However, All the dlc has one problem I noticed, no alt costume. I like the recent Freddy well enough, but why the decision to use the Jackie Earle Haley version? Also, why two razor gloves? Ok now I'm just nitpicking, I'm overjoyed at the reveal. This is awesome to a new level. Something to replace the NES Freddy in MY nightmares.

Aw man.... Here I was hoping for Groundskeeper Willie as a possible DLC character. You know what, NetherRealm Studios, I'll compromise. If you put Freddie in a kilt as an alt costume, I'll be happy.
P.S. This is quite an interesting character choice. I hope whoever pitched the idea gets a promotion or some royal treatment.
