Commander Shepard's companion characters are a big part of the Mass Effect DNA, and a big reason why the story so effectively sucks players in. Mass Effect 2 offered a mix of new and old party members, and next year's Mass Effect 3 will follow suit. Casey Hudson, executive producer at BioWare, revealed one of the new faces as a thank to the 10,000 fans who now follow him on Twitter.
Ladies and gentleman, meet our newest Mass Effect 3 pal: James Vega.
The human Vega is a Systems Alliance (Earth's voice at the Citadel) soldier. He was mentioned in the May 2011 issue of Game Informer, described as a well-trained soldier who isn't so up on interstellar politics, notes.
You can see a much larger full-body shot of the new character below. Every little bit revealed helps us overlook the fact that Mass Effect 3 won't be seen until next March, so enjoy the image!

I agree with everyone, he does look a bit like a doosh, but that could be a bit to his character, he might be a complete ass trying to help save Earth and not make any friends whatsoever, meaning he is just on the Normandy to help not to be friendly or anything, he looks like the lone wolf type of guy who will shoot first talk later, so yes he's going to be an ass

All I'm saying is give us Brock Samson. I would love to see just how violently he would deal with the reapers. But seriously As far as mass effect characters go I have always been quite pleased with how they turn out.

My femShep is sooo gonna harass this boy. And I am quite ticked off that Subject Zero could run around with a leather belt as a top but they have this guy wearing a shirt covering up that bod. BOO!!! =D

Thank you Bioware, for all that you do. Haters will always find something to complain about. As long as Vega goes well with the storyline, I am happy. And considering how well the previous ME games went, I have nothing to worry about. Note: If they tried to make him look like a real Marine from today, he would probably look too similar to default male Shepard. Honestly, I think it is realistic. In the real world, we have people who look dumb and look like douchebags... do you think they will be gone in the future? No, they will grab a gun and fight off the giant aliens. lol

So gay! The characters that have been introduces so far are more than enough to keep us intrigued they could have spent the time developing the relationships between the various characters that we want to spend time with instead of creating this useless douchebag. Hope they get rid of him if not im sure he will be killed over and over again.

anyway, he looks cool bioware! kinda looks like he won't need shepard and the other teammate on missions though... and personally he reminds me of van dam.

He kinda looks like Sam Worthington, doesn't he? Hope this game will be awesome since 'Dragon Age 2' was a disappointment, but if it's anything like or better than the ME2 then we are in for a treat :-)
