Electronic Arts To Shutdown Online Play For Army of Two, Skate And Others

The full list is up on EA's website, but you can also check it out right here:

Oh quit your belly aching people. These are all pretty old games that probably don't even have a strong multiplayer audience anyway. I doubt if millions of people are going to miss out on all the fun and excitement that came along with Army of Two multiplayer. Most of the games on the list is more than 3 years old, and a few of them were even demos.

Online multiplayer is an option given for games, it isn't the whole game. If it's that bad why not just go back to the original multiplayer...another human being in the same room with you playing the game.

here's a real quick question, why is it that only EA has ever shut down servers? seriously for 360 at least I don't believe there's been a single other developer that has actually dropped multiplayer for their games! though personally I think it's probably that Microsoft has a cap on the number of games the publisher can have on their servers so they take the old ones out to make room...still really stupid...

This is complete bull EA, you publish games that we buy at the store that advertise "Multiplayer" and then you shut them down. Thats like selling someone a car and then coming and taking their tires away. It just doesnt work. Not for me. I bought lord of the rings conquest ( Star Wars Battlefront except Lord of the Rings) because they shut down the servers for Battlefront which is one of my all time favorite games. So i was enjoying playing a great LOTR game online with my friends, and then they shut down the servers to it. This is quite ridiculous, i try to avoid buying anything from EA due to this, as well as how they sell you these "Online Pass" things so you can barely even play the game if you buy it used. In addition to this, they charge you for EVERYTHING, for instance in BFBC2 you have to purchase camos for you guns. Its gotten way out of hand, and its not just EA making me mad, companies are now holding back maps they could release on the game disc, and releasing them later as DLC to make even more money off of it. Just my little rant, excuse the wall of words, but dont let it dissuade you from what i have to say. We all need to be aware of whats going on.

Multiplayer games are ok but most companies is trying to just make money off of that. I like the SP game because you don't have to worry about someone sutting it off. It's on you system. I still play the old Doom 1 & 2 and Quake 1 2 and 3. It's all about the money now. That's why microsoft it trying to just make game only for the Xbox360 and leave their OS Windows out of it. This is such a money money country. Thats why GOD is taking the blessigs from this country because of the the way peoples thinks.

I wouldn't consider any of those games "old" it's sad some of those games are probably still played by a lot of people.

I hope the only reason they are shutting down College Basketball 10 is that they are coming out with a new one, if so WOO HOO!

this is why i don't buy multiplayer games that don't allow people to host their own servers.

i still play couter strike source on occasion and that game is way way way older then any of these.

the two multiplayer games i am currently playing the most of is killing floor and team fortress 2, both are older then most if not all of these games...

I also agree 2010 items should not be shut down.. You need to give every game at least 5 years..

This is why anyone who buys games for MP only are suckers.. Play them for the single player mode because the MP isnt going to be here for long.. EA does this all the time..

This is why the world hates EA

W T F? EA won't even support the online for the life of the consoles these games are generated for? I see, six to seven years is just way too much to ask EA to support it's games and the loyal customer's who stuck around to put up with this bull$%&@!!!

I can't wait to start paying these publishing companies additional fees to play their games online, only to eventually have that game removed from their servers.

I'm a bit torn on this. While I understand that they need to shut down servers to old games, I'm not sure I consider Madden, NHL and Tiger Woods 10 to be old. Some people hold on to these games due to the very very very small steps that the new year brings to these games. We all know that sometimes we can't afford $60 every year for the roster update, oh, and the "less recycled" fan in the stands. This is just another example of Electronic Arts screwing the consumer. Funny, 10 years ago EA was my absolute favorite publisher/developer. Now they are nothing but a bunch of crooks.

Its sad Becuase I re-installed NSF:MW like 2 months ago and theres still like 2k people playing that every day.

Note to publishers: When you shut down the servers, patch the game so we can host our own servers and just have a basic server list finder. Cost nothing to you in the end and we get to play out games.

I mean, if Serious sam's second encounter can still have 5 servers going, why cant NFS
