Xbox Music, a service we reported on earlier this morning (July 12) courtesy of a story on Business Insider, does not actually exist. Don't worry though, it's not some vast conspiracy by Microsoft. In fact, Big M itself told site VG247 that the reports were "inaccurate," and that future plans for the Xbox 360 console most certainly include the Zune service.
The mix-up apparently came from discussion of new Kinect voice controls, which will open the Zune music front of the revamped Dashboard by saying, "Xbox. Music."
So yeah, we can see how that might get confused. However, this clarification and continuation of Zune on Xbox does nothing for the reputation of me and my Zune HD. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go cry in the corner while searching for someone to trade music with.
Business Insider has acknowledged and its mistake and issued a correction.

I'm trying to decide between the Zune and Spotify. Ughh!! I love my Zune soo much but I feel like Spotify has implemented the social aspect into its service a lot better than Microsoft has.

I signed up for the subscription connecting my phone to my car stereo and streaming all of my music commercial free. The Zune was easily the best stand alone MP3 player to date.

I still have my zune 120 somewhere... I now have a Samsung Galaxy S 3G+ (Fascinate) phone that can play better video than it... and a 16GB ipod nano (the one with the camera) for my stereo...

Don't hate on the Zune, it was a better mp3 player (emphasize on the music part of an mp3 player) than the Ipod. The problem was that Microsoft failed at marketing it correctly. The Zune HD was the model that could really contend against the Ipod Touch, but Microsoft was slow on the apps, and even though in my own opinion it plays audio better it was just overwhelmed by the fact that people wanted their mp3 players to go above and beyond just the mp3 part of the player.
Now we have to say R.I.P. Zune player because the name Zune will now live on as a service, and not a media device. It just really saddens me because now that MS has a great phone OS they could have had what Apple has. Ipod Touch is a stripped down Iphone, and Zune player would have been a stripped down W7 phone.

I have a zune 120 and a zune pass. I am very happy with it. I could have bought an Ipod like everyone else but I didn't want to.

I'm a proud Zune 80gb and Zune HD 16gb owner here. I originally had a Ipod classic 30gb for one year until it broke, annoyed with itunes and liking where Microsoft was going I switched to them. Later Microsoft would give me a Zune HD 16gb for free. So yeah I like Zune, it just had some of the worst marketing in history.

i was going to buy a Zune until i found out out Windows Phone 7 have a built in Zune 2yrs ago. I love it, play my music, movies, look up facebook, browse the net...... just like Iphone but the Microsoft version of it. I love the $12 packet they have per month with unlimited music downloads. =o) i just wish they would have a monthly fee for movies then i would be set. im talking about the 1080P movies
