Bethesda today announced that it will publish Dishonored, a first-person action game, in development at Arkane Studios. Dishonored will be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, and PCs in 2012.
The game is being created by Raphael Colantonio, lead designer on Arx Fatalis, and Harvey Smith, lead designer on Deus Ex, so it’s got a bit of a pedigree.
We'll get full details when the next issue of Game Informer hits the newsstands in Early July, but until then, there's a preview of the issue's cover above and here's a brief description of the game:
"Dishonored is the antithesis of a edge-of-your-seat roller-coaster ride. It's a game about assassination where you don't have to kill anyone. It's a game about infiltration where you can set up traps and slaughter the entire garrison of an aristocrat's mansion rather than sneak in. It's a game about brutal violence where you can slip in and out of a fortified barracks with nobody ever knowing you were there. It's a game about morality and player choice where the world you create is based on your actions, not navigating conversation trees."
Given the resumes of the creators of this game, the involvement of Bethesda, and that description, I don't think it's premature to proclaim this the greatest video game of all time.

hmm sounds just like the new Deus Ex....not sure about this one after Brink, I love Bethesda so I'll keep an eye on this one for awhile.

Sounds cool, but I hate the "morality" crap. C'mon, guys, can we move past this?

I love bethesda to death, but they have a horrible track record as far as publishing goes.

Damn, that sounds awesome.

Well Bethesda isn't making it, just publishing it. Besides having a Deus Ex guy work on it, they have a art designer that designed City 17 from half life so im thinking it should be decently exciting from what we know now. Gameinformer is doing its next mag on it for August, so check it out if you want more!
