Killzone 3

A Killzone 3 tournament presented by Virgin Gaming and Edge shaving gel (yeah, I think it's a weird choice for product cross-promotion too) has a prize pool of $40k, and you could be picking up a good sized chunk of it with two of your buddies. The tournament is structed as 3vs3, with qualifying rounds opening Monday, June 27.

From there, 32 teams will compete in elimination rounds. The last team standing gets to claim $10,000, though how they choose to split it is for them to decide. The other 19 teams which comprise the top 20 will also receive prize money, but those amounts haven't been specified.

If for some reason a three-way split of $10k tournament prize money doesn't sound enticing enough, there are also individual challenges to complete during the six weeks of qualifying rounds. Only the first week's challenge has been announced thus far: rack up the most kills and keep $800 for your selfish, murder-machine self.

All that remains now is for you to head over and register for the Get Your Edge KZ3 Challenge and answer the question: Who are the best Killzone players? And while you're there, ask a Helghast how smooth his face is after using Edge shaving gel. Because now I'm curious.

Can we use the FragnStein in the tourney? That's the only true way to play an FPS.

Not true there was a resistance 2 tournament in late 2008 or early 2009.

I'm not sure but I think this could be a first. I guess it's taken a few years to get a large enough install base to make tournament conceivable.
