Popcap Games has announced that gem-matching puzzle game Bejeweled 3 is coming to every conceivable platform. That means versions on the Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, PSN, Xbox 360, and Xbox Live Arcade. That's five* versions of the game, all launching simultaneously in late 2011. It will feature twice the game modes of its predecessor, eight mini-games, and an audio-visual overhaul. So there.
Yes, I realize Bejeweled is a "casual" game, but Jake "Hardcore" Gaskill liked it enough to include it in his top five games of 2010, and seriously, there are few harder-core gamers than a Bejeweled addict getting a fix.
Check out our verdict on Bejeweled 3 and ask yourself whether you really want to take that first hit...
*I guess there will be a retail PS3 copy on a disc and PSN version for download. This way every type of "gamer" can play. We've contacted Popcap for confirmation and we'll be sure to update you once this is confirmed.

Great news, don't put the game off because it's part of the casual market. Diamond Mine, which was what Bejeweled was in the beginning apparently, is my favorite mode.

That's awesome. I have Bejeweled 3 on my laptop and play it every day. It's more addicting than Angry Birds.

This is great and I am very sick of the labels "hardcore" and "casual". If the game is good, it's good and it should be played.
