Robin will be a playable character in Batman: Arkham City's challenge mode, but he will not be playable in story mode as Catwoman is. Robin is an exclusive pre-order download for Best Buy, as stated on their website, but it's not clear if The Boy Wonder is a timed-exclusive or if you'll only be able to get the content pack from Best Buy.
The Robin content pack is more than a re-skinned character; it comes with Robin-exclusive gadgets, special moves, two new challenge room maps and a Red Robin costume. I'm pretty sure the Red Robin costume is a furry costume from the restaurant chain. Don't quote me on that though.
The Tim Drake Robin DLC pack will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Batman: Arkham City will be released on October 18.
Many gamers have been very unhappy with exclusive DLC, as seen with the planned boycotts of Battlefield 3. Day 0 DLC and retailer exclusive DLC is hardly a new thing, but it's not popular among gamers either. How do you think gamers will react to Robin being a Best Buy pre-order exclusive?

Hopefully he isn't as corny as he normally seems to be. This photo shows him as a basass but still it's white and black so I don't see the tacky use of red & green for an outfit.

All the boycotting is about respecting and being fair to your customers, some points:
1. If we paid for the game we DESERVE THE WHOLE GAME! (I personally don't like Bestbuy and now I cant Experience a FULL GAME MODE because of my choice of provider but i still pay the FULL PRICE of admition! Like you said, Robin its not a simple reskin but a whole character!).
2. In game exclusives should be keep cosmetic, items that break the game's progression( looking at you DA2) or unbalance the game (exclusive suppressor for snipers) should never be included. Giving you a custom look for armors, new skins for existing weapons or items are fine because they don't break the game and no one is really missing anything from the game while still getting rewarded for your choice of provider (again its about getting the FULL GAME).
3. Day 0 DLC SHOULD NOT EXIST! The fact that you're rationing a existing game content with the purpose of making more money is abusive to your customers. Again, if we pay full price for the game, we should get full game. On disc DLC is biggest insult to consumers to date, you're paying to unlock what you already bought.
4. Its good that you reward early adopter with extras but why do the rest need to be punished especially if they paid THE SAME as the early adopter?!? (I personally have limited resources and I always wait for reviews before i buy, why do I have to pay more to get the same).
These are some of the points for the current boycotts, again its all about respecting and being fair to your customers. Why protest? because we care about our industry.
