Robin will be a playable character in Batman: Arkham City's challenge mode, but he will not be playable in story mode as Catwoman is. Robin is an exclusive pre-order download for Best Buy, as stated on their website, but it's not clear if The Boy Wonder is a timed-exclusive or if you'll only be able to get the content pack from Best Buy.
The Robin content pack is more than a re-skinned character; it comes with Robin-exclusive gadgets, special moves, two new challenge room maps and a Red Robin costume. I'm pretty sure the Red Robin costume is a furry costume from the restaurant chain. Don't quote me on that though.
The Tim Drake Robin DLC pack will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Batman: Arkham City will be released on October 18.
Many gamers have been very unhappy with exclusive DLC, as seen with the planned boycotts of Battlefield 3. Day 0 DLC and retailer exclusive DLC is hardly a new thing, but it's not popular among gamers either. How do you think gamers will react to Robin being a Best Buy pre-order exclusive?

I'm just going to say what I know you're thinking. Robin looks like Cole MacGrath.

Ok, so let me just say I'm a huge comic book fan. Batman: Arkham Asylum is an amazing game and addition to DC Comic's arsenal. The Gameplay was fantastic. The graphics were outstanding. And don't even get me started on Detective Mode. Weapons and gear are amazing. And since Arkham City is an unusual sequel. Meaning, the producers didn't want to throw away all of Batman's gear and abilities, just so he can work his way back up. They thought it was much more like batman to have not just those weapons and abilities, but be able to get more, and since Gotham is a different environment than Arkham Asylum, he'll have to use them a little bit differently. First off, when I say this, this is my idea of how the game could go, so thumbs up if you agree, the armored batsuit should be back, but also( if this happens) any alternative costumes you've unlocked, or be able to customize your own. also, Catwoman and Robin are able to be played, so maybe they could have alternate costumes. My idea, Catwoman=Armored suit, more black than grey? Robin= Nightwing/ a different Robin suit? Also, off topic, but could we drive the batmobile? Maybe. There has to be a batcave, and it's been confirmed that we'll be hearing more from alfred. More weapons, too. Smoke bombs, Diverse-Batclaw(shoots in two different directions),Batbolas(take down enemies for interrogation later) among others. And, just like how Arkham Asylum had play as Joker, Arkham City might have play as Two-Face. If you like the sound of these ideas, then thumbs up.

I think he looks like Cole from Infamous 2, but I am Deff Pre-Ordering this from Best Buy because Its the B.A. Robin not the panzy Dick Grayson Robin.

I have had bad experiences with BestBuy and already told myself I would never shop there again, now they throw this awsome Robin deal in my face. I am torn.

Even though I prefer D. Greyson's older Robin better ( i.e. right before he became Nightwing). I can appreciate Tim Drake being in the game. Robin has always been a long standing character in Batman books. Although I wish he was playable for some co-op action. I'm still grateful he's in there this time. Robin missing from the first one just didn't feel right to me.

A lot of times the Best Buy pre-order bonuses end up just being a Best Buy bonus with no pre-order require or at least that is how it has gone with the last 3 or 4 games I've purchased there.

Man he is just Chris O Donnell with a buzz-cut! I wanted Jason Todd. Long live the red hood!

Tim Drake... "drools"

he likes fantastic. I can preorder the game anywhere or just buy it the day it comes out. But just for Robin, i dont care much. The first game i played it 3 times and all was just campaign mode. Never, not once i ever played Challenge Mode.

At the office here we actually think he looks like Starkiller or Eminem... but anyways.. I think this is a good start for Robin. I want to see him in color though as well as some slightly longer hair.

wait tim drake? wasnt he the one that was killed off in book series "a death in the family" because no one liked him?....hmmmm glad its just a challenge mode. i can do with out the gimmicks, just give me the game. add ons should be like what they did with fall out. something that has to do with the story line. this one is just useless. almost makes me not want to get this game. or at least wait for it in the used market.

So let me get this straight.....all a character must do is have a buzzed head and all of a sudden he's a Cole McGrath clone???? Have we really become so cynical in our views of games that we have to constantly compare characters. Personally I don't think he looks anything like Cole. Aside from a buzzed haircut, which has more hair than Cole does in Infamous 2, his facial features look absolutely nothing like Cole's nor his overall body design.
However I will say that this look fits perfectly with this game and the depiction of Batman and the various villains. The more armored look is a good homage to Tim Drake's start as Robin in the comics and makes it look like he can actually hold his own against multiple opponents. Also interested to see if he fights exclusively with the staff or it its part of his special moves.
As for the "Best Buy exclusive", give it a month and he'll be available as DLC for everyone. I think keeping him out of the main game is good for two reasons. 1) This game is about Batman not his sidekicks. Getting Catwoman in there is still a bit of a stretch but anymore and the game's narrative would have suffered to include multiple storylines. 2) Making them challenge mode characters only gives you a reason to play the challenge mode because of fresh characters rather than simply continuing with Batman and Catwoman after you've finished story mode. People enjoyed playing as the Joker in challenge mode don't see why this would be any different.

"but he will not be playable in story mode as Catwoman is"
Well that's bs to the max.

Hopefully they will do what RockStar has done/learned that they should make them available to every one after a while.

I don't mind DLC if it adds life to a game that's been out a while. I take exception to exclusive DLC and the "Nickel and Diming" DLC that we been getting.
Though I loved ME2, the DLC was, with the exception of Lair, a waste of money. Not to mention the fact EA expected you to pay to join the Cerberus Network to then get the "right" to pay for more DLC.
Seems companies are going to charge you $50-60 for an incomplete game then charge you $5 every couple months for DLC. Sorry I got burned with DAO, so DLC is now off limits to me.
I don't have a problem if they did a First X copies of Game Y have a code for DLC Z, that would encourage people to buy the game at release. The rest ... I'll pass.
