Forza Motorsport 4 To Include Kinect Support

Forza Motorsport 4 wants to be your racing game, even if you don't particularly like racing games. Or rather, even if the only racing games you like are ones with serial killer clowns, environmental devastation or sweet burnouts. And I have to say from my own perspective, it's got me raising eyebrows. Thankfully, our own Nikole Zivalich kept her hands steady at 10 and 2 during her preview at E3 2011, even if her eyes may have wandered or turned glazed:

"Since most people aren't car people, Turn 10 Studios made an advanced lighting engine and used special rendering techniques to make their cars look as appetizing as possible, and, at times, down right delicious. Seriously, they were so shiny it looked like they were coated with a layer of sugar, and maybe tears. During my demo, there was a constant emphasis on how advanced the lighting engine was. I can't speak for the mechanics of it, but it looked amazing. Again, sugar."

If you want to read more of what Nikole thought - and you do! - be sure to hit up our full Forza 4 E3 2011 preview.

a car game for non car people? i want a car game FOR car people. for everybody.

heres one of my favorite gt5 stories:
in the used car dealership i found a volkswagen karmann ghia like my dad had when he was a kid. it was his first car, and i remember seeing pictures of it, so i bought it and painted it pale blue just like his was. my dad eventually came by to visit, and i sat him down. i asked, 'dad, would you like to drive your old karmann ghia again?' he said, 'of course, i loved that car.' i booted up gt5 and gave him the controller. he had never held one in his life, and always scoffed at me for playing video games when i was growing up. he said he couldnt, that he didnt know how. i told him it was alright and that i was going to teach him. i stuck him on a practice track and walked him through the controls. within half a lap he was having a whale of a time. laughing, smiling, crashing. he was telling me all about the car. how it sounded, how the body was hand shaped, how it stored an extra cup of fuel in the tank, how the undercarriage was virtually flat, about how it rolled off a cliff and still worked, about it breaking down in mexico, about how it survived a flood.

for the first time since i bought gt5, i realized why PD put so many standard model 'normal' cars in the game. gt5 is a racing simulator to me, and a memory museum to my dad, whom isnt a car guy and definitely not a gamer. gt5 is a car game, for gamers, for enthusiasts, for anyone who has driven a vehicle.

A nice lighting engine is nice but the end its about the cars. And I don't think this will beat GT5 so it's a no go for me.
