Anarchy Reigns is the next big thing from Platinum Studios, the guys who brought you Bayonetta and Vanquish. Looking to tweak and alter the way we think about brawling fighters, the studio is throwing players into a frenzy of action and beat-em-up violence. Jeffrey Matulef checked the game out at E3, and his impressions are ready to lay the smackdown.
"It should come as no surprise that a game with Anarchy in the title would be confusing. Anarchy Reigns stars Madworld's protagonist Jack Cayman, along with other Madworld alum including: Leo, The Black Baron, and Big Bull, yet the game doesn't take place in the same universe as Platinum's black & white brawler. Even stranger, it's a third person competitive multiplayer hack-n-slash, a genre that I'm pretty sure doesn't exist. It's breaking all the rules..."
For my money, the game looks to be a mix of Power Stone and Spawn: In The Demon's Hand for the Dreamcast, but maybe I'm just saying that out of nostalgia. If you think I'm wrong or want to check out more Anarchy Reigns for yourself, be sure to read the full Anarchy Reigns E3 2011 preview!
