Want to hear a cool internet rumor? Mass Effect 3 will feature a four-player co-op mode. The rumor comes via Eurogamer, who says the online-enabled co-op mode is "standalone" and will feature "competitive elements." To the relief of fans of the series, the co-op mode will reportedly not compromise the single player campaign.
According to the rumors, the four-player mode of Mass Effect 3 will be a horde-style mode, with players challenged to shoot wave after wave of enemies before, presumably, succumbing to their evil.
Officially, BioWare is not talking about the four-player mode. When asked about the mode at E3, BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka said, "We haven't talked at all about multiplayer in the Mass Effect franchise, but we're exploring multiplayer in all of our games and all of our franchises... The short answer is we have no comment on that. But we're interested in the idea of multiplayer."
What do you think of the possibility of multiplayer in Mass Effect 3? Is it a selling point for the game, or unnecessary trend-chasing on the part of BioWare?

add in co-op! it'll be a fun way to spice up the mass effect francise. its just a fun little mode to add in the game its not like it screws up campaign as the guy said. dont hate on it at all dont play it if you wont like it then

If it is seperate from the story and not just shoehorned into ME3 then I think its a great idea. If its just a tacked on mode with little attention given to it then it will suck. I have faith that Bioware will make it right if they add it.

--ME3 does NOT need multiplayer. Why does every developer want to shove multiplayer on us? I'm very happy playing an awesome single player game over and over. Especially the Mass Effect series, there are so many differant ways to play it on single player. There is no need for multiplayer.--
gambitjuggalo
not every game needs to have multiplayer

I say leave ME3 alone and let it stay pure. Save this stuff for those offshoot ME games that are sure to come after 3, but LEAVE 3 ALONE!!!

Awesome! I was hoping for something like this. I like game modes like Firefight in Halo, Horde in Gears, and Zombies in Call of Duty (It's okay, I s or suck at it). I'd love endless waves of reapers or geth.

Just no.
Because whenever multiplayer enters a game it just starts to take it over, and that would kill ME if it happened.

They shouldn't go down that path. We don't Mass effect to become like Gears of War. You want horde you play Gears of War, or call of duty for the zombies. Mass effect should stay like it is and that is how people like it.
Co-op wouldn't be that bad if they made a different story that ran along side the main game.
hoof_hearted4
should be 3 player coop if its mass effect

Should be something where you can explore the galaxy with friends that doesn't effect the single player campaign. Maybe even bring back the rover and each player get one. Just something that compliments what Mass Effect is where you can enjoy it with your friends. Would be very interesting if they made a universe just simply for multiplayer exploration.

No. Just no. If you want to put multiplayer in a Mass Effect game, be smart and wait til you finish ME3 Bioware and just make another game in the ME universe with multiplayer. Why waste the resources?

I'd pass on that. It's not a good enough 3rd person shooter for coop IMO.

Unless they are stealing people away from the Dragon Age team to make it, bs. Anyways, a horde mode is just about the only kind of multiplayer I think would work with Mass Effect, even though it will probably be dead within a week of the games release.

As long as there's no achievements/trophies for it, so I can completely ignore it.

not a selling point... but i can see this being pritty fun. Idk i always felt like while the gameplay in mass effect was fun, the story and the decision making was the selling point for me, so they would have to make the combat even smoother if they wanted to have an online feature

I honestly would not mind seeing a co op mode for this game, as long as it is not a detriment to the main story line. I actually can see this game doing it, if it is the way I had imagined it. Oh shoot, might as well share how I kind of envision it to be: Each player chooses their class and chooses the weapon load outs and customize them as they earn currency for killing enemies, saving team mates, surviving waves, etc.. Players should be given the freedom to customize the armor of their character, whether it is less for more mobility or more armor for more protection. Just have multiple options for players to be who they want to be. Also, why not throw a boss after a certain amount of waves. Would not mind facing a Cerberus mech or Thresher Maw boss. Heck, have the final boss be some kind of Reaper. Also, since it all about scale now, they should have some huge levels with some objectives here and there for more incentive to gain currency and to attempt to keep the experience fresh.

Ugh... just... ugh.

This ranks about a 9 on the bogus-scale. Shep only brings 2 squaddies with him; the rumor-er should do his homework.
But seriously, I doubt there would be multiplayer in ME3, Ray specifically said in the 'franchise;' Besides they have already said no multiplayer.
I think it would be awesome, if they did it the way I'm thinking: full co-op in the story mode, and while Shep makes the decisions, the squadmates would voice their opinion, and snarky comments.
The Monkey King
It would be a nice addition, but it would not take away from the whole Mass Effect experience.
