Dark Souls may be the successor to Demon's Soul but as Kei Hirono, the publishing producer at Namco Bandai explains, it's different from what you might expect. Sure, the core concept remains. It was important that Dark Souls kept a sense of achievement, a sense of satisfaction for accomplishing ridiculously hard gameplay. But the differences are the amount of exploration and the seamless open world.
Dark Souls will be even harder than Demon's Souls. I think the best way Kei Hirono summed it up was with a simple food analogy. FromSoftware and Namco Bandai wanted to make Dark Souls as spicy as possible while still being deliciously edible. I can not wait to play the game for myself. I also can't wait for dinner now too!
Dark Souls will be released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 4.
