At E3 2011 we got our hands on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's new Spec Ops mode, "Survival". Survival mode features endless waves of enemies that you have to take out using a variety of weapons which unlock as your progress. Kevin Kelly got to test out Survival mode, here's a snippet from his preview:
"Finding a good corner to defend is one of the keys to surviving in Survival mode, but when the dogs and Juggernauts start rolling in, you'll need to go mobile. Luckily, there's an Air Support armory you can unlock, which offers tactical items like an Attack Helicopter, or even a Delta Squad drop-in, where four AI soldiers join and fight alongside you. They can (and will) die, but they're fairly intelligent, will follow you, and are very handy in a firefight. Especially once the suicide bombers start coming in. If they get near you, they'll explode, and if you down them, they'll blink red and then ... explode. But if you think that's bad, just wait until the dogs strapped with C-4 start coming after you. Someone in the Call of Duty world sure hates dogs."

How can you have dogs strapped with C-4? They are near impossible to hit at range so how are you supposed to kill them before they get too close.

sounds lame. Id rather have a story co op mode instead. I never played spec ops on MW2. Its was boring and dull.

I loved spec ops in MW2. It was a great co-op experience if i could get my IRL friends to play (because all of my XBL friends are total retards). But I have high hopes for the spec ops mode. I hope it isn't JUST the invasion mode though, because Spec Ops in mw2 brought some really unique missions into the game that just wouldn't have fit into the story. Like the mission where you blow up as many cars as you can, or giving your friend cover from an AC130 or chopper gunner. I loved those. Some much needed freshness into a series going a tad bit stale. Unfortunately, black ops went a step back on that, and just threw in another cheap zombie mode.

I remember how much fun I had with spec ops in mw2 despite hating the game after a couple of months. Seriously spec ops would have made those stupid 15$ DLCs ok.

But besides that the game does sound great and I am a fan boy, so I will be getting it with or without the additional bells and whistles.

This is gonna be good. I beat all the all the spec op missions in mw2 with my friend on veteran I hope these maps are ready for epicness.

Dogs with C-4 attached to them? I'm not really digging the Call of Duty series too hard these days, but I have to admit...That sounds horribly awesome. It may warrant a play from me now.
