Mass Effect 3 Delayed Until Early 2012 -- New Screenshots Don't Ease The Pain

Mass Effect 3 made quite a showing at E3 2011, demonstrating Kinect integration, explosive battle sequences and richer combat options. So when we got behind closed doors to check out the opening of the game, we had our expectations high. G4TV.com's Jake Gaskill gave us his impressions, starting with the sheer size of the game's missions:

"When the scene opens, the sun blinds us as we look out over a stunning desert vista filled with canyons, arid mountain ranges, and desert sands whipping through the air. We weren’t given much backstory on this particular assault, but we were told that Shepard and company have arrived in this particular area are infiltrating a Reaper base, and to kick things off, Shepard calls in an airstrike by targeting a blast shield using a new laser-guided marker device. Once it’s locked on, a ship roars overhead, the scene shifting seamlessly to a brief cinematic showing the ship unleashing a rocket strike on the silo."

Now, if that sounds like the demo shown during EA's press conference, that's because it is. However, that's not how the game opens. No, that's much more explosive and heart-wrenching, and I wouldn't dare spoil even the slightest detail for you. But if you're curious about the tone for Mass Effect 3 and its opening moments, be sure to read the full ME3 E3 2011 demo preview!
