RAGE Delayed Until October -- You Mad?

Rage

RAGE, the post-apocalyptic first person shooter from Bethesda and id Software has been delayed until October 4. The game was originally slated for a September 13 release but has been pushed a few weeks to refine the graphics and fix bugs.

Considering Brink, the last FPS entry from id Software and Bethesda was launched a week ahead of schedule and it was released with a ton of bugs that were fixed via a patch a week later, this seems like a smart move on the companies' part. RAGE will be coming out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

What do you think about the RAGE game delay? Are you raged you're going to have to wait another week, or are you happy that the developers are taking all the time they need this time around?

I'm not upset with them making a later date for it's release, but im worried that this game might be too much to live for it's glory. I am young, and just gaze up at the best-seller giants, and this was my first game that i ever pre-ordered, so really, if ti makes it better, im all for it. :D

I'd wait till October 4th 2012 if it meant the game would be shipped with a multiplayer experience I might actually wind up playing more than twice.

Smart move...I dont think they really wanted to release right before Gears of War 3. I just hope the add REAL multiplayer, just having a racing game as the multiplayer in FPS game created by the guys who really started the FPS multiplayer genere with their games, is a shame. That reason alone, is why I will not buy this game until it drops to 29.99 or less, thats like Making Halo multiplayer a puzzle game....just makes no sense...WTF id

Gamers might be mad and say "Man! I used money to pay for my rent to pre-order RAGE! WTF." Well, if you did that, youre a retard, and second, they want to sell you a good product. Better than a crappy game.

"Considering Brink, the last FPS entry from id Software and Bethesda..." You realize Splash Damage developed Brink, right?

As long as it's not a six month delay or god forbid a 10 year delay like another to-remain-unnamed game I'm cool with it. Now if they were to delay it the week before it was to be released, that would tick me off.

I am annoyed. Not about RAGE particularly because I haven't looked into this game all that much because it's just something that I don't think I'd be into.

I am annoyed that once again (Seriously how many games have been delayed in the last 2 months?) game developers/publishers have announced a release date and then failed to execute that date. It would be different if someone held a gun to a developer's head and said, 'Give me a release date or I'll kill you' 5 Days after production starts. But that isn't what is happening. What's happening is Devs, Publishers, Executives and overall shady people are coming out on their own will and purpose and saying, "So and So is coming out December 3rd 2011!" in order to get people 'pumped up' and 'hyped' for the game and then they decide to start making it and realize they can't hit that date.

Now it's a little different if you are a publisher and you say to GameStop or Best Buy, "Yeah we are looking at a November 22nd 2011 ETA for this game" and then some idiot posts a way to pre-order the game on the site but then doesn't think and lists it as shipping 11-21-2011 because that's industry to industry talk and not meant for the public.

But still you look at games like ME3 and RAGE and you think, 'Jesus guys, you can't finish these games? Do you just have monkey picking dates out of hats? You should know how long it takes you to finish a game and if you really are that bad at knowing how well and fast you work don't throw out release date timetables until you are 95% Finished.' I mean the Gaming Industry (although gaining popularity) is still kind of a joke. I mean from an industry stand point. One they are full of companies being accused of 'evil' and milking their fans for money because the industry it self can not combat the financial loss of Used Game Sales and THEN turn around and give places like GameStop exclusive DLC which only drives more people to those stores. Then you look at the industry and these game delays and it just looks like an unprofessional, monkey driven industry because you don't see Movies, TV Shows and Music Companies constantly delaying things because they can't get them finished on time.

I mean when's the last time a movie was delay for something not related to a tragedy or national event?

Not to mention the games that get delayed just for sales because people either didn't pick a release date properly or decided they didn't do enough to support their games. I mean look at Homefront. A game I was very excited for and couldn't wait until March 7th (I think it was) for the game to come out. I also planned to get DA2 but was more excited for Homefront. Well then THQ for some reason opened their eyes and said, "Oh No! DA2 comes out that day! Quick delay a week so we can get the better first week sales!" which is another thing I don't get. I understand people don't have loads of money all the time to drop on video games, but if I spend 60 bucks on DA2 one week I don't magically get another 60 Bucks of allowance the next week for another video game, especially with a BioWare game that you KNOW is going to have loads of DLC (which oddly enough DA2 really hasn't had any game play DLC aside from launch) so you aren't going to want to play a Week of DA2 and trade it in so you can get Homefront.

Red Dead Redemption was delayed a month and a half I believe and it turns out it was only delayed so that Rockstar could refocus and revamp the Marketing Campaign for the game. This marketing included a 30 minute time slotted show on fox directed by some loser director and when the show did come out it turned out to be just the first 22 Minutes of Cut scenes from RDR. Which maybe would have been cool if the show didn't premier a month or more after the game released.

ME3 is another game that I really wonder why they delayed it. I mean it just seems weird that they now have a date that they can use the ME '3' logo in and it's the first week of march. Then again DA2 didn't sell as good as anyone expected (still sold good, but not as good and as fast as everyone expected) so BioWare might be trying to hedge their bets.

So yeah... My main point is that unless someone has you in a life threatening situation, you don't need to announce your release dates so far in advance that you can't follow through with that date at a later time. People get annoyed and frustrated about release dates being delayed and I'm sure they rather not be given a BS first release date and then have to wait even longer for the actual release date. It's all about perception and how you look at it. The day GTA4 was suppose to originally release everyone said, "Just think, if it wasn't for the delay we could be playing GTA4 right now" and then it becomes a world of would've could've should'ves.

Also didn't a recent report come out saying most games were purchased by people over the age of 25? If you are over 22 you should have a job and be able to buy games anytime of the year.

I don't care that much about Rage, but this idea that most Triple A titles have to release in the Fall/Winter is ridiculous and causes good games to get ignored in the glut.

Well i was looking to get it in sept. but now its messing with my time i have been looking forward to with Dark Souls plus Batman and those are two Ps3 titles that won't be pushed aside for Rage but will likely still grab it next year. Good news for Insomniac though.

No. It means id Software wants to make it a really good game and not disappoint their fans. We'll wait a month longer, but it's okay as long as the game turns out great.

yes i am mad, i am so sick of how developers feel that every big game needs a Q4 release and yet we are left without any games all summer and fall. They are only hurting themselves because some of these games will suffer in sales for sure

Seeing as how November is going to be crazy with releases, this actually helps give October another good release to even out the fall lineup. Plus I'll be playing Resistance 3 and Gears 3 anyway. Also, Rage is going to be leaps and bounds better than Brink, the two shouldn't even be used in the same sentence.

I own Brink for the pc and I haven't played it yet because I'm waiting for them to fix the bugs before I review it.

What is so damn special about Oct 4th? I hear several games are supposed to launch that day most notably Twisted Metal. Rage might be ok but since I'm not in middle school I need something besides FPS's.

It's good they're doing this, and it's not a huge delay, but unfortunately this puts it between Gears and Batman so I cancelled my preorder.
