Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello is positively fired up about the upcoming video game battle between EA's Battlefield 3 and Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. In an interview with CNBC, Riccitiello likened the release of both games at the same time as a "Clash of the Titans."
In spite of Modern Warfare 3's advantage in name-recognition compared to the Battlefield series, Riccitielloi is confident that Battlefield 3 will emerge victorious because it is "a better game."
"I could have pulled our game and moved it into August or January. I picked their launch window, on purpose, because, side-by-side, our game is better in so many ways," Riccitiello said.
"The simple reality is, they're working on a game engine that's multiple years old, and they've been adding to it and adding to it and adding to it," Riccitiello said. "We've invested the last four years of our time, energy and capital resources to build something brand new from the ground up that's frankly superior. Whether its looking at the animations, the gameplay, the scale of the world, it's a better product. I'm really looking forward to the competition."

I am so excited for Battlefield! My friends were so inspired by this game that we actually started our own Airsoft team! Here's my beast: http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ ER-VFC-M4ES-DEF.htm

omg will all of you shutup seriously. Oh boo hoo CoD is just cut and paste, same old same old blah blah. uh have you looked at every other game? Super Mario is cut and paste at its finest. whats differnet about it from every other super mario? oh hit these blocks get coins, jump over this and that. save the princess. oh look its a new mario game! but this time hes on a planet!:D SAME OLD SAME OLD but it still manages to get the highest scores? Zelda is cut and paste, whats so different in that game from the other ones? anyone tell me anyone? but that manages to get high score. Street Fighter is the same thing every single time! but the only difference is that they put SUPER in front of it and that automatically makes it a completley different game? and THAT manages to get high scores. I swear the game community is filled with nothing but these biased and retarted people that attack a single game all because it looks the same or cause they hate the company. But they will give all these other cut and paste games all because they like the company or the character is a icon. Im no fan boy but i do enjoy call of duty AND Battlefield games thats why im going to get both to show my respect and gratitude to the game and company.

Halo, Cod and BF are all good games, it just depends on the gamer. Also to you asses out there who will dislike this comment for defending cod, f off BF fanboys

I think its important to note that EA is specifically targeting CoD. I think its important to, as CoD has forgotten why they broke away from EA in the firstplace... They are now money hungery (They released multiple games without updating their engine or changing gameplay. MW2 and Blackops looks the same as CoDMW, which was amazing then... I got the games, because they are fun, but months after they came out and used. I did buy BFBC2 midnight release, so i am bias here, but i feel like Battlefield has been better to their customers.
Im an XBOX gamer, after migrating from PC cause i got tired of updating comp... but i still have a lot of PC gamers i still talk to and teamates i communicate with. Everyone has claimed that BFBC2 on PC was outstanding, but then i hear from PC friends that CoD screwed them over. I know over XBOX the servers on BFBC2 suck for me, just lag twitches and stuff, but its a lot better then 'Host Migration' every ten minutes cause a 12 year old got called to dinner. Im not saying that kids are bad, and im not saying that kid gamers are annoying- im not going to troll on that- but i am saying the server system is to save money for no reason for CoD, and it shows... its outdated.
The biggest reason i am annoyed at CoD is the ELITE system comming out for them. At first i was like 'wow that could be really cool' but then i foundout they are charging for it... i was like "WTF!?" its a website, which yes, requires some maintance, but they sell so many copies of their games that it shouldnt matter. EA DICE has come out and said they are comming out with something similar, FOR FREE... Its not that bad really not even to have it... i know what guns i use well, what classes i use well, and i can do some simple math to figure out K/D ratio and Score Per Minute. Dont get me wrong, i feel that its nice, but NOT WORTH CHARGING MONEY FOR.
MW3 will offer cool singleplayer and the same multiplayer style gameplay. I know Blackops will be my last CoD game until they change their mindset from "Guitar Hero 1 per year- no matter quality" to "it might take some time... but we will release a quality product complete and not charge for added good onto a game (to clarify i dont me DLC maps, i mean services like ELITE)"

Getting both... I don't even have to question it. I know that I'm coming out of pocket another good 700 bucks on all the offerings on this year's E3 alone. o_o; ... Damnit all... xD! ...
As far as BF3 vs CoD - I honestly think that it will be a preference scenario. If you like one you'll play it more than the other. I know a lot of my friends will be making the migration to MW3... and some will jump to BF3. New playgroups are forged and friendships are made over cursing out one another and the random noobs fought online. It's the cycle of respawning... I mean... reconnecting.
THEJUSTIFIER
I will probably have to get both. COD has always had the tightest controls and the level of customization and multiplayer spin has always been fresh. Battlefield, for me, has always been about the scope and realism (well sort of) though its always felt a bit more like a simulator, again goes back to the controls. Always felt more like a badass in COD.
dz99ls
if he was really so confident then why didnt they choose 11/8/11 as the release date????? because they know the only real chance to get console(not PC) sales it to release 2 weeks early.....
Shadou3
Unfortunately all current Battlefield 3 footage that they have shown is from the PC version... And MW3 footage has been on the XBox 360. It is pointless to compare visuals from 2 different games, one on a platform that we know the specs of, the other on a system we do not.
Sure, Battlefield 3 will look much better when it's using DX11 on a quad SLI GTX 590's but when 90% of the gaming market is from consoles, few people will actually get to appreciate those slick graphics that has been presented.
KilledFirst
BF3 looks like a better game on all fronts. I can only go off of what I've seen, but DICE seems to have a major 1up on Sledgehammer/Infinity Ward. I'm also tiered of the never ending PR spectacular that is COD. If Activision invested as much money into their products as they do into the advertisement for their products, their developers might actually be able to put together a completed product.
BLITZERKING1
here lays call of duty 2003-2008
RIP COD
Shadou3
Oh really. The CEO of EA likes Battlefield 3 over MW3... Didn't see that coming. Bias much? This is no different than the CEO of McDonald's saying that he likes the Big Mac over the Whopper. It's all useless and a waste of time.
"I picked their launch window, on purpose, because, side-by-side, our game is better in so many ways." -John Riccitiello
It is more likely a tactic to "lessen the wind in there sails." A defensive tactic to dampen the competition's sales so that they can't get to far ahead.
boogster0196
Right now with both content MW3 and battlefield has put out there battlefield is surpassing MW3. Even though MW3 has its name it has yet to show me enough fresh ideas and gameplay to make me excited for it. As for battlefield 3 I am excited for it and they have made me excited for their game and i cant wait to play it.What COD franchise should do is spend a little more time working on it instead of releasing one every year.
coppersnake
as much as i have loved cods of the past this just looks like mw2 in a different setting. i mean almost all the weapons in the demos so far have been the same.
i saw g18s in the sub demo like wtf were they thinking noobest gun ever. ump etc nothing different.
i think i will only get bf3 was a big fan of bf2 so hopefully its just as good.
will not be getting cod4 verison 4
insanemembrane
bf3's the new hot chick on the block ... mw3's sorta the girl that gets around and everybody's had a go at her lol
