There’s no bigger showdown going on during E3 2011 this week than the one between DICE’s Battlefield 3 and Infinity Ward/Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and that’s why we’ve gone ahead and put together a handy little comparison for you. You know, for easy…comparing. Both games were demoed live on stage during Microsoft and EA’s respective press conferences, and there’s little doubt that both of them managed to captivate and awe viewers from start to finish.
MW3’s New York City harbor invasion sequence started underwater with a stealthy bombing and breaching of an enemy submarine and ended with heart-pounding boat chase through exploding aircraft carriers and sinking battleships. It’s Call of Duty doing what Call of Duty does best. The Battlefield 3 demo showcased a tank-based invasion set in the deserts of Tehran. The assault does a fantastic job of not only showcasing the scope of the vehicle combat players can expect from the game, but it also showed off the awesome lighting and particle effects the Frostbite 2 engine is capable of delivering.
Both demos left us wanting nothing more than to get our hands on both games, but for now, we’ll have to settle for some glorious HD gameplay. Hit the jump to watch!
