Here's an 11th hour rumor for ya: Website Nowgamer is reporting that Halo 4 will be announced by Microsoft at their E3 2011 press conference. Their evidence: A page that mysteriously appeared on Xbox.com, and then was yanked down. There's a capture of it above.

Well I heared Cortana dies sometime in the game because an A,I has 7 years to live exact - If u got the Halo reach legendary book it says an A,I last for 7 years. Also the arbiter is gonna be back in this game, with a new multiplayer thats gonna try to not be like the other halo's. And if U guys are wondering about the 2 nobles in reach they wont be in halo 4 343 is gonna keep it halo 4. Its's also not gonna be halo wars for people who have heard rumors - And i think to get the legendary ending on reach is to complete every weekly challenge with all skulls on without dying why would've they in the first place just have put them there, they are stupid challenges for 17 18 thousand creds. I also hear there will be costomization of eletes in halo 4 as well as a black color for the spartan armor with a bunch of new armor and some armor from halo 3 - there will be recon armor - Firefight will be included but it will be like MW2 spec ops I hear. i dont know if Halo 4 is the last game but if it makes it I think they will just make add ons instead. There will be no kill cams :P but there will be a realistic mode for the multiplayer i believe. halo 4 will sell a load of copies but they are gonna make this game so it doesnt get boring - The graphics will be an advanced enhanced halo 3 engine that will allow all assassinations in halo reach and there well we duel wielding YESSSS !!!. The brute shot will be back along with the halo 3 weapons but i didnt hear anything about the halo reach weapons but Im guessing they will throw them in the multiplayer for fun and fans of the aistrike. This Is all I know so far - but the reason why the made a remake of CE is because they want to wait for BF3 MW3 all the other shotters to come so they can make the halo 4 out of this world - this will be the best halo yet guys.

Now that it's over the videos on youtube. just search halo 4 announced by caitshift. down't just search halo 4 or you'll get a bunch of fake BS. It's real though trust me. Can't wait.

halo 4 takes place right at the end of halo 3 where we saw master chief sleeping and waiting to be prepared for thr next fight

Ok a lot of people here don't seem to have a clue. It is not a continuation of The series. It's going back to the beginning, a remade Halo 1. Combat Evolved was epic. I don't know if another multiplayer experience is needed seeing as reach will be over just a year old, but for all we know they're pulling an ODST and it'll tie into reach's online. Honestly I would prefer the latter. Reach multiplayer is solid, I played 3 religiously I just prefer Reach, wider skill gap when it get's competitive and overall fun when it isn't. I could even see this game as a giant DLC pack if you have Reach or you would have to go out and buy some new product if you don't. Games seem to be heading in that direction. BBCS2 and SSF4AE for the fighters are showing that may be right option.
But on a serious level, Microsoft better not blow this one up and start pullin a COD and try to remake all the Halo games the Next 3 Years. I wouldn't mind adding to the Combat Evolved story, like add some stuff we never saw and clear things up, but don't ruin it damn it.

unlike movies, video game series can go on forever and ever. As long as the game is fun people will keep buying them and they'll keep making them. They'll stop making halo games and call of duty games when people stop buying them. Eventually they'll over saturate the market and people will lose interest, like the guitar hero and rock band series. The need for speed series in headed in that direction quickly. A 3rd NFS game coming out this year? are you kidding me?

This has to happen...Everyone knows that Master Chief survived at the end of Halo 3....I look forward to another game...Honestly the only games in the franchise that I did not like were Halo Wars(don't like RTS games) and ODST...(just didn't feel like a Halo game)....I think 343 studios will do a decent job taking over the franchise....I believe most of them worked at Bungie at one point and helped on the last couple of games in the series. I hope that Bungie has an announcement of some sort as I am looking forward to their next IP. Also what the heck is going on with Respawn as well? I would think they would have something to show us at E3 as well...

If they're announcing it at E3, that means it'll be released Nov 2012. Plenty of time between now and then to make an informed opinion to the merits of the game.

maybe it'll be a cross over game. like, master chief meets the flintstones. Or maybe this time there'll be a water level. Honestly though, I really liked reach, but microsoft needs to take a page from sony and start coming up with its own diverse line up. And sony needs to take a page from microsoft and make sure that if they have a major problem, it needs to end in people buying a lot of new systems instead of just recieving free games.
