PSN Welcome Back Program Errors Reported -- Gamers Unable To Redeem Games

PlayStation Network PSN

The PSN Welcome Back Program kicked off today but not without a hitch. Many gamers are reporting problems when trying to redeem their free games. The European PlayStation blog has acknowledged some gamers are having issues downoading their games. They recommend logging into your PlayStation Network account and choose Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List. From here choose " “PlayStation Network Promotions” and select "PS3 Free Games" or "PSP Free Games." Click "Select Content." This, in theory, will take you back to PlayStation Store to choose your games again.

We at G4 also wanted to redeem our Welcome Back codes. Upon entering the PSN I got an error, 80710D36. After exiting out and entering again several times I was able to access the Welcome Back program waver icons. I clicked redeem PS3 Game 1, chose Dead Nation, and got the same error. I tried again several times and a screen came up confirming my purchase, however the title wasn't in my downloads or games. I restarted and went back and my Game 1 icon was gone.

I wasn't the only person who had this problem, as I discovered by googling the issue. That's where I found the EU PLBlog tip to go to Account Management. I got the same 80710D36 error. Never one to give up, I just exited and kept trying. After at least eight attempts I was able to follow the steps and reactive my download.

Is anyone else having these issues? Did the recommended fix work for you?

If you're still having trouble, I recommend just waiting a few hours. The traffic to the store is overwhelming at the moment, as everyone tried to log on at the same time and download the free stuff.

I got the same errors, but going through my account settings as above (instead of the store) fixed it for me. Once the store stops being so overloaded, and if you've already "purchased" your free game 1 or 2 but didn't get to chose or download it, you can go through that back door and it recognizes that you haven't redeemed the download yet. I got that same error even doing that a couple of times, but finally got my games downloading.

You can't expect everything to run smooth as silk with everyone trying to access the same content. The only answer to the errors is to try, try again or come back when the rest of the world is asleep. So far, I've had the error pop up several times, especially when trying to access my download list, but when it finally worked, there were my free games just waiting for me to start downloading. I've almost gotten all 7GB of inFAMOUS downloaded now. You just have to be patient.

same thing happened to me...but yes, Account Management >> Transaction Management >> Services List >> SCEA Promotion, DOES, in fact, work.

it takes just time and some patience, but it's worth it. just keep on tapping X, then O if you get the error screen. eventually you'll get put through. i mean...it's not as bad as it was trying to buy Comic-Con tickets this year. that was...something else...

This has to stop right now! It's that George Holtz hacker's jail break web sight and his hacker scum buddies that went after Sony again, this time the F.B.I. or the government should force him to track down the hackers who hacked Sony again,I believe it's Micro Soft who us behind the hack attacks because they created the hacking tools.

greentea, the demo IS the full game after you install the "unlock" key.

If selecting game fails Account Management/ Services List/ Playstation Network Promotions

If the d/l fails, the game will be in your download list ('though that's buggy as hell as well).

This fix didn't work, Ms. Zivalich. The error happened as I picked my game, so now there is only one spot left, as if I already downloaded one. Now I can't even click account management without the error popping up.

The PSN is such crap. I am so damned frustrated, I just want to wash my hands of all PSN-related BS. I think they've made a Microsoft fanboy out of me. I swear that any multiplatform game will henceforth be bought for the 360, and I will never trust the online component of any PS3 exclusive. The multiplayer aspects of Killzone, Uncharted, and other games are dead to me. I guess you get what you pay for, so I won't ever expect my PS3 to do anything involving the internet (other than give away my personal information).

Well here's my problem....... I did all of the above, and it finally worked. Infamous is now downloading. However, I also chose the Wipeout HD pack, and it gave me some tiny little 24 kb download for allowing me to play the full game or something, the Fury DLC, and the Wipeout HD demo......where do I go from there? It seems that they gave me everything BUT the free game.....

In other news, Sony Pictures is hacked and 1000,000 accounts stolen.

This is not giving me that warm fuzzy feeling I like from my online provider.
