Over the weekend the internet flipped out over the announcement that Activision will offer a premium online multiplayer service called Call of Duty Elite that will work with both Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3. Oh, and it's gonna cost ya. Yes the rumored "paid subscription service" for Call of Duty has been confirmed, and it's not quite what we were expecting. Of course, The Sess had plenty to say on the subject, so check out the new Sessler's Soapbox for his take on Call of Duty Elite.

I really hope we never have to pay for multiplayer. We are already paying fee after fee just to connect online (360). If they start charging me to pay for multiplayer I want the game itself be less than 40 bucks I know that Elite is only for stats, but how long until we have to pay to actually play online. Just saying.

I think the service will be alright if it pays for future DLC

Prepare for copious amounts of fury and rage over implying that the PSN is not superior or at least to the standard of, XBL. Though they might not be watching this for sometime cause they just got their PSN back online....

i like it. finally COD is doing something cool that a guy like me could use. who cares about the fee, if u want the best, pay 4 it. if not stay winh 2nd-rate games and dont complain when games aren't as perfect as u want. freedom is not free. games will never be free too.

If its worth it I'll buy it. I'll wait to E3 before I conclude. As long as the normal multiplayer is still free because we are playing 60 + tax and buying add ons I mean how greedy can you get.

DO NOT WANT. I'm tired of passing up better games for the yearly CoD update. screw it. Getting skyrim this year instead.

An interesting Soapbox Adam. I agree with your aspect on the business side of this, as well as EA probably sitting back, wathcing the internet going crazy over this, and loving it, because it makes Battlefield 3 look all the more better. Call Of Duty Elite kinda reminds me of Playstation Plus or EA Gun Club (which I have both). Only differences being in that Gun Club's free and Plus doesn't track game stats. Though I am wondering as well on who's really saying this is what I want. To me, this just looks like something that'd be good to have, but not a necessity.

I doubt COD players will want to go on their computer, phone, etc to look up scores and team names. I don't they'll be able to put their controllers down.

xbox live still sucks even though you have to pay for it. g4 really has to get off the microsoft nuts.

How is a stat tracker (and for CoD no less) more interesting than E3?
