The PSN has begun a phased restoration process in Japan and other Asian countries including Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. The plan to restore the PlayStation Network and Qriocity Services in Asia is similar to the one already being used in America and Europe. An identity theft protection program will be offered too customers in Asian territories too.
Phase one of the PSN restoration will include:
- The ability to sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity services, including the resetting of passwords
- Restoration of online game-play across PS3 and PSP
- Friends' category on PS3, including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc
- PlayStation Home
- Access to other network features on services such as torne
Previously, Japanese authorities denied Sony's request to restore the PSN in Japan. The reason for the denial was that Sony had failed to meet their expectations for security precautions. I wonder what Sony did differently for Japan to persuade those in charge to decide it should be relaunched. No matter what how it went down I'm glad the PSN is back in Japan and across Asia.
