Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the movie, has lost its writer and director David O. Russell. O.Russell left the project due to creative differences with Sony. According to Variety, Sony is looking for a new writer to redraft the film.
The movie is based on Sony and Naughty Dog's 2007 game of the same name. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and was rumored to star O.Russell's friend Mark Walhberg as Nathan Drake. With a new writer and director, a new cast seems more than likely. That's right folks, Nathan Fillion still has a chance!
So who do you think should play Nathan Drake? Any thoughts on a director?

Nathan Fillion is probably the best choice for Drake. He's got the looks and the personality. Yes, he's a little old, but not much. Plus, he looks like an actor that it wouldn't be hard to make him look younger with make-up or even a little CG, if it was needed.

Joe Flanigan would be a good candidate for the role. His looks and personality fit Nathan Drake's! I vote Joe!

David O Russell has made some great movies (especially Three Kings and The Fighter) but he also has the rep of being kind of an ass and really difficult to work with. As for a new director, I think anybody but Michael Bay would be a good choice. And I kind of see somebody like Ryan Reynolds making a good Nathan Drake. But I'll have to see how he does as Green Lantern first.

Nolan North should be Drake. He's his voice for crying out loud. All the voice actors/actresses should play their respective roles. They look the same as their characters in-game. Nathan Fillion? Eh. Def Nolan North.

This is the best news I've heard about this project so far. I think David O. Russell is talented, but not for this project. Even worse would have been his vision for the movie and Walhberg as Drake.
Good, good, good! I'd love to see Nathan Fillion in the role (that he was seemingly born to play) or Boreanez would also be very good.

I'm not the biggest Nathan Fillion but I think he'd be excellent for the role of Drake. As far as directors go, there are many I would not want to see direct it (Paul W.S. Anderson, Bryan Singer, Brett Ratner, and I shouldn't have to mention Uwe Boll), but I think David O. Russell was one of the best additions to this movie I had heard.
Well, hell, if we're going with Nathan Fillion, why not let Joss Whedon direct it? I see that turning out pretty fantastic.

Does this really need a movie? How can any film version possibly live up to the games? Naughty Dog have already produced one of the most cinematic game franchises in history. Why would a passive version of this story be worth sitting through? Film adaptions of games never work because games are already visual and we actively participate in the action. Most good games are already aping films as it is so why bother rehashing an already used idea? Film studios just want to cash in on the built in audience that a game brings to their increasingly empty table. Games are starting to make more than movies and I find it cynical that a film studio would want to tap a market that they actually feel is beneath them when in fact game story and the money it generates are only getting stronger. If film studios want to get a slice of the gamer pie I think they should just invest in the games themselves and not make trite cash-grabs. Who's with me?

I hope for Whedon, but a decent director, and Nathan Fillion, this movie actually has a chance. Drake IS Fillion.
As well all know video game movies all sucketh. With maybe a small few being passable or guilty pleasure type flicks. Who knows, with the 'right' people this one may have a chance.

Why not the original cast? Most of them fit wholly as the character they play and they have the best connection to their respective characters. Then the general public can get a look at these great actors that deserve greater accolades, like, a five star movie adapted from a five star franchise. Besides, it would be a first for this kind of thing and that's cool in its own right.

Mark walberg is ok buut I think bradly cooper (hang over) looks more like nathan drake and has the quality. I just hope it's not published by disney because it might suck and have no guns and have family values
ethereal0313
I'd be very happy with Fillion, but honestly, I think David Boreanaz is a better fit looks-wise. And he could pull off Drake's personality fine enough.

Good i'm glad.
He was messing it up anyways. I want Nathan Fillion, Emily Rose (from Syfy's Haven), and Cladia Black :-D for the roles and have the movie be true to the game in spirit and not what he was turning it into.

Great news!!!! Now maybe the new director can get Nathan Fillion since he made for this role.

Thank god!! Please please please whoever takes over this movie listen to the fans. Nathan Fillion is the perfect Drake.
cwhas2godhands
I would go with Bobcat Goldthwait or Andrew Dice Clay.

As much as it pains me to say this but I think Josh Duhamel fits Nathan Drakes look and age the most but the guy just needs to learn to act. Nathan Fillion is great but he's also like 40 so kinda tough seeing him pull it off.
