Homefront and Propaganda In Video Games - What Are They Trying To Tell You?

Remember Homefront? For some reason, it seems like THQ's alternative-nightmare-history-shooter came out years ago, but really it was only a couple months ago! Regardless, THQ will be updating the title, and fixing a few issues. They've also revealed the first DLC for the game. Sadly for single-player fans like me, it's a couple of multiplayer maps instead of a new chapter in the game's riotously over-the-top story.

Here's what's on tap: On June 7th, the “Fire Sale” Map Pack will be available. It will feature two new multiplayer maps. “Fire Sale” will launch first on Xbox Live, and according to THQ, this is just the "first small taste of anticipated robust updates" that will be coming to Homefront.

Also on that same day, THQ is offering the 870 Express Shotgun. And, as "a way of saying thank you for your continued support," THQ is providing a Premium Homefront Theme that will be provided on the Xbox 360 Marketplace.

So who's still playing Homefront?

homefront is a great game. Aside from the short campaign and disappointingly small DLC I look forward to playing it for threat multiplayer.

I still like this game despite everyone's criticism.

But if they start charging $9.99 for a few god damned maps, they can go to hell. Maps in all games should be $5.00 or less unless it includes new game elements.

Here is an update to my previous post.
They got their act together yesterday and fixed their update.
I played a few rounds last night and the game played pretty decent. The sniper rifle is still a little under-rated but better. Game play was smooth, a member spawned right next to the enemy once, but that was better than always. I still think they should offer DLC free the first time out for all our troubles ( over a month of unplayability ). They need more than our words to bring this game back from the dead. Take a look at Front Lines Fuel of War, dead and gone for good. Is this what they really want for their future.

I'm a single player myself. FPS developers shouldn't forget about us. We appreciate the story gameplay which is the reason we bought the game.

This started out a decent game until all you lame children that whined about the snipers. They adjusted the crap out of the game, made the weapons so unrealistic. So they made another attempt to fix it and bring everyone back. NOT, they screwed it up even more. For crying out loud I spawned behind the enemy spawn point, thank you for the 7 quick kills. Sucked to be the enemy. Only one way you bring any of my members back, a goodwill gesture on the first DLC. If not, your working for nothing. Oh ya, thanks for the new update yesterday that shows all of 30 servers running now. Another job well done.

"Sadly for single-player fans like me, it's a couple of multiplayer maps instead of a new chapter in the game's riotously over-the-top story."

I still hop on Homefront a few days a week. The multiplayer is great, and entertaining the maps are diverse enough so that you can use a variety of strategies on each one. But I do agree some of the vehicles like the attack heli are unbalanced because they get shot down so easily. But I will definately think about getting this map pack depending on the price.(and yes the multiplayer is more entertaining then COD: BO) Let the thumbs down begin!

They announced that a multiplayer demo would be coming soon. Does anyone know if that is still happening?

I never played this game, but I am pretty interested in it. Only thing that has me kinda trepid about this is the short story, the average-at-best visuals, and the seemingly one-dimensional characters in the single player. Though its multiplayer looks pretty impressive, I won't lie.

Yeah I was really pumped for Homefront and even though I slam developers for missing release dates I kind of forgave Homefront because I wanted it to succeed and could understand how even though DA2 was a completely different audience it still may have taken sales from Homefront.

Anyway the game didn't measure up to my high expectations. It's one of those games that is kind of cool but it definitely reminds you that no matter how evil Activision is, they still produce a wildly entertaining game year after year.

I think my biggest problem was that it became SnipeFront with no Bullet Drop and no scope motion getting sniped from across the map became a common thing and it got to the point that you couldn't even get mad at all the snipers because even common players were forced to snipe.

I also didn't feel the Vehicles or Perk Weapons were balanced. Spend all that BP on a Helicopter and you literally might only have it for 5 seconds. Same thing with with the drones ESPECIALLY after I realized that when my guy died, I lost my drone. That really put a damper on me using BP.

But I'll be interested in Homefront 2 none the less because I'm sure KAOS (assuming they stay) will learn and improve from what was a very successful IP Launch.

OH and Yes, Yes I am annoyed that THQ saw the presale figures for this game and still failed to have adequate servers. I mean I guess to be fair THQ isn't use to making good Next Gen games but it looks like they are learning.
