ATTENTION EVERYONE!
Forget the trailer they released back in February and just watch this with no preconceptions because this game looks very fun! Solid animations and controls in an interesting setting. Seriously don't think of that promotional trailer when watching this just try and imagine playing it cause it looks fantastic.

Yeah, the way the game plays is so damn similar to Fallout 3 and Vegas; the most apparent similarity is the painfully stiff animations that characters have when they talk to you, which I would consider a last gen technique that does not seem particularly engaging if they want to make a good story. The game play however is much faster and more frantic than Fallout 3. The kick animation is horrendous; it looks like a large stick going out and knocking them over, no fluidity in the kicking animations. Despite these complaints, it still looks pretty good.

The gameplay reminds me more of Resident Evil and Dead Rising rather than Left 4 Dead 2, I don't see the resemblance at all... is it just because of the melee portion? Uhm, yeah, Dead Rising did that first. :\
Anyway, it seems pretty decent. Seems like a lot of you losers are just way too brainwashed by the unrealistic fast-running, shrieking zombies that even George Romero is rolling his eyes at. These are some REALISTIC zombies.
Though yeah I have to agree it's not all too convincingly scary simply because of the wide open environment, bright sunshine, and small groups of zombies. I guess they were counting on the "being alone" part of the game to make people jump but it really fails. What a shame.
The reason games like RE and Bioshock were so damn scary was because of the closed in environments, you know? Like giving the player small paths/narrow spaces to move through and up that scary vibe. Plus how can they honestly expect a core gamer to get scared by this? We're all pretty much desensitized by now. This would at best scare my grandma or a child under the age of 5.
Anyway, looks fun still so I'll probably get it anyway.

I really like how the gun looks and reacts plus fires!

I din't like how big the screen splat is btw.

this vid made me want this game.

Hey look it was the guy who is *not* 20ft tall G4! lol
Watching this left me with a few lingering concerns.
Wonder if we'll be able to create our own characters though (yes they mentioned we can choose skills/classes/etc but that's not what I mean), or are we limited to a preset main character for the sake of the plot?
Such as in this case, what looked to be a female flight attendant.
Not quite as "realistic" or intense as I had hoped either, even the straight jacket guy charges pretty slow.
Also, why are the zombies punching so much, they're supposed to want to EAT you, not no go round for round like they are Mohammed Ali.
"Bloat like a larva fly, stink like the sea" lol

It doesn't look bad, probably good stress relief, especially if there are some fun weapons. Every time I see a huge island game like this or Just Cause or Far Cry etc. I always wonder why nobody is making a huge open world Jurassic Park game.

I'm not about to say anything too harsh. Just tone down the sand blowing around everywhere which, since the game isn't complete, they will probably do. I would also hope that more zombies will attack at once.

usually i can see myself playing a game, to determine if id like it. but looking at Dead Island, i would get bored. its too arcade like for me, too many points, exp, and bright reds and blues get in the way of really looking at the fallen paridise im apparently suppose to immence myself into. if there is a real survival mode and an option to get rid of the visible hud and target stuff, i will consider borrowing this from someone. until the final product i hope they show a more suspenceful area of the game and a tad more scary, and scary-fun. although i do like the fact how the shadows of the trees kind of imitate sudden movement and how thatd be real freaky under the moon light, most of the games lighting and shading look detatched. but hey, there is always hope, Dead Island looks like itll be just 3 look-a-like zombies...out of five.

Lose the blowing sand and I am sold.

I feel like no one has checked into what this game is going to be about gameplay wise. It is meant to be a more realistic (bear with me, we are talking about zombies) survival deal, what with upgrading makeshift weapons to help you survive and repairing them ( a la Elder Scrolls Series) the combat is relatively loose at the moment and very reminiscent of L4D. But there are also going to be classes to pick from as far as what kind of attributes you want to focus on (assassin, tank, cant remember the others) and you gain experience, level up and pick new abilities. This is an action/rpg with survival bits thrown in.
Don't get all ruffled because this isn't the game you wanted. They stated when it came out and in recent interview that while you are trying to survive, you are also trying to kill zombies to gain money and experience to upgrade your character. This isn't a return to Resient Evil 1, sorry for anyone hoping for that.

Looks pretty great, but the faces seem pretty stale as far as emotion goes, and I would have preferred a more personal skill based way than the way they put certain skills in favor of certain characters, but still looks pretty interesting.

i am very uncertain of this game. the trailer, which was amazing, gave a very serious seeming tone to the game. of course this game is not very close to getting finished at all since there were many noticeable glitches. i feel the game would be better if it had great stories and characters such as the bioware games normally have. i hope the game feels scarier too. i know this isnt exactly how the final product is gona be, but it should feel more creepy(noises) and eerie looking.
regardless seems like a game i will hope is great when it comes out.
Malapropism
aside from the two things i noticed, such as the body going through the floor and when reloading your magazine was still in, it actually looks like a well developed game so far, when is this coming out?
i mean i just think they need to render the graphics a little better and make things look a little more fluid but the game already looks so smooth, it's just missing a few spots
militarynerd13
Seems real but why a girl as the character you play? oh well... at least its a real zombie game. unlike nazi zombies where its just fun
Philofish
looks great looking forward to it !
jtron_3
