Cheats and Walkthroughs

Remember the huge Call of Duty: Modern Ware 3 leak from last week? Well Giant Bomb has received details about a company-wide e-mail that Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg sent out this morning regarding the leak that happened exactly a week ago on Kotaku. The e-mail details how the company handled the event internally and how they were able to turn what could have been absolutely disastrous into a strategic advantage.
"I wanted to reach out to you today and address the Call of Duty intellectual property leak that occurred last Friday," said Hirshberg, "Of course, Activision takes very seriously any abuse of our intellectual property – the event is under investigation and we’re confident it will be resolved quickly."
According to Giant Bomb the e-mail doesn't provide any details on where the leak came from but instead it goes on to say that while the leak did come a week before Activision's projected MW3 launch (that was supposed to culminate in a commercial during the NBA Finals) the company was able to spin it into a good thing.
Once the leak hit Kotaku last Friday the company went in to damage control mode. Since the leak occured so close to the launch date, Hirshberg said that, "we had a number of assets that had not yet been released, but were ready to go."
- DETAILS: GameStop's Modern Warfare 3 Offer
And that's when they began to release a series of teaser trailer videos for the highly anticipated threequel. "When it came to light that we had suffered a significant security breach, it became clear that a leak of this size had the potential to throw our launch off of its schedule, or worse, blunt its momentum," he wrote. "As a company, we needed to look both backwards and forwards simultaneously. Of course we needed to immediately begin finding the source of the leak. But we also needed to deal with the fact that, like it or not, our launch had just begun."
The result of rolling out the trailers through Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, according to Hirshberg, was phenomenal. "We had over 4.8 million hits on the various Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 teasers over those first 48 hours. To put that in perspective, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops had 61,000 and 89,000 hits, respectively, in their first two days. Pre-sales for MW3 are off to an amazing start. Perhaps, most importantly, we migrated the dialogue from one that was between our players and the leakers, to one between our players and us."
The e-mail finishes by explaining how very few companies could have, "woken up with a crisis of this magnitude, and gone to bed with an undeniable win." And he tells his employees to be proud that they managed to come away from this PR disaster with a win.
Of course Activision has to cover this up and act like everything's peachy for PR reasons but honestly for once it seems like they really aren't doing so bad because of the leak. Sure Kotaku ruined their launch but now they're getting more hits and everyone's talking about MW3 now even more than they would have been next week probably. What do you think about Hirshberg's e-mail? Do you think he's being sincere about his jubilism over how the launch is going now, or do you think Activision is still stewing over how their largest title for E3 has been a bit tarnished?

Thogin
To tell you the truth, I brought MW2 because of all the hype, everyone was talking about it. I was like eh, couldn't be that bad if everyone talks about it like that.....
It was alright MW2, It wasn't anything special, I thought I would get to drive a plane or something. I got tired with it and told my cousin not to buy it.
Second big problem, your servers suck, people cheat like high heaven, and the players are all one man army.
jumpman757
anyone who thinks or fathoms that MW3 will tank or thinks the old CODs are trash u are an idiot and no where near a true gamer period....it will be the biggest title of the year even possibly bigger than gears 3....lets be realistic ppl....and for the record i will be purchasing gears MW3 and battlefield!
XXXSpartan118XXX
I actually don't remember the CODMW3 leak from last week at all and could care less since this game will suck.
MasterKiller64
If Activision wants me to buy this pos then they better tell IW/Sledgehammer to BALANCE THE DAMN MULTIPLAYER!!!! MW2 is the most unbalanced game ever made and CoD4 is not much better. Until then, I only buy Treyarch Cods. IW what happened to you? You used to make decent CoDs like CoD2 which was a 360 launch title.
Baldguy
Gimmie a break - MW3 stuff wasn't leaked - at least not by accident, I'll bet almost anything. With all the vids and info recently released for Battlefield 3 (sub-title should be "The COD Killer" as it looks incredible), Activision had to do something to draw some attention to their game - as if to be saying "uh, guys, remember us? We make a FPS moder military game too !!!"
Only thing leaking over there is the plumbing !!!!
xFlamexOfxHellx
Really this was leaked? I thought it was already confirmed, this is the worst christmas ever.
MW3 Is going to kick ass.
BryanHelp
They can also morph the 3 like they did the M and W on that cover... lol I don't know why that's bothering me. But I was hoping Black Ops would fail and it did not. I'm crossing my fingers for this one to tank but too much sheep out there I guess. Hopefully gamers will wise up and not buy this garbage anymore. That's wishful thinking(never will happen).
trooper_201096
that's true, and i hate how every year they come out with a cod game i mean seriously give us some GD time to breath and enjoy it, killzone 3 was better in my opinion even BF2 bad company. dont get me wrong, i like COD MW more that treyarchs COd but still, poor server
connection time outs and glitches.

I wish someone would hack Activision to save us all from the yearly milking of a tired genre/franchise--I so don't care anymore (beyond posting about not caring, that is).
AND WHO PLAYS MW FOR THE STORY?! No one, that's who. It's just the cereal filler in your bowl of Lucky Charms--you're only in it for the colored marshmallows.
angerissues1
I love first person shooters. I'll be playing both MW3 & Battlefield 3. Having said that I prefer Battlefield because I like the greater flexibility I get. COD has been a one trick pony for too long & needs to do something 2 breathe some new life into a franchise that's gotten stale & predictable. If MW3 is more of the same, this will be my last purchase of a COD game.

"crisis of this magnitude" and "PR disaster"
Really? Good job grossly overestimating the importance of your job fools.
Bamf464
I'm not gettin' this. It comes out on the smae day as Skyrim and that game is 100% more important. That and my FPS for that time will be Resistance 3 with my clan. So screw COD.
Deathadunn
WINNING!
ravenhermit
And not a single cluck was given that day.
s8rlink
Had it after I sold MW2, game full of glitches, campers and people, who because they could play a game of who has the lowest ping, thought they were good at FPS, haven't even tried Black Ops, don't even want to, been playing BC2 since day 1, still have tons of fun with it, but the positive thing about this is that every "one man army" ( actually losers who even on video games can't socialize and work as a team), noobs and whiny 12 year olds can stick to this trash, and real FPS players can duke it out in BF#, and for the people who think, because that is all that notion is, that COD requires skill, pffff you need to get your head out of the toilet that's Call of Duty and play reall FPS, counter strike, team fortress and BF, then tell me if you can still do your ridiculous killstreaks, or camp all day like a b@*ch

To People who hate COD
50% of people who hate COD want to fit in but secretly love it.
30% are Battlefield fans who are mad they didn't win anything for the gaming awards.
20% actually have a real explanation that allows them to hate COD.
But seriously, why does EVERY COD HATER seem like they're middle aged losers!!!!
And I'm sorry for COD haters who aren't, but really, they're ALWAYS commenting on the good ol' times of FPSs like there are no good ones.
COD isn't Brink of Homefront, so lets just not comment on it.
LoveAsThouWilt
Momentum? Its MW3 not a new IP. Everyone KNEW it was going to be coming sometime, if not this year, then next. So any anouncement for it was no surprise at all and no matter how it played out sales would have been the same regardless because the die hard fans will still get it day one and those casual ones i will pick it up LOOOOOOOOONG after its out and is 10$ used. That's how I played MW1, and still haven't even bothered with 2. Single player has to hold up to justify a games price tag, because what the recent incident with Sony has proven is that ANY console's server could go down and be without online functionality.
DroidCLH
I'm just done with call of duty. It's not fun to me anymore, it had a good run but other games have proven to be superior.
BigBadBOOM
Im still getting over the shock of this huge leak. Who would've thought there would be COD game this year?
Just between us, I heard from a friend that knows a guy at EA that they are planning to release another Madden title this year (and next year but I haven't been able to confirm that part yet so lets keep it on the DL).
