With the upcoming Uncharted game for the PlayStation NGP - which we'll call simply "Uncharted NGP" for now - Naughty Dog's Uncharted series is looking to set up home not just in your console, but your pocket too. Unfortunately, few details have been revealed about the game, other than it will not be developed by Naughty Dog, but Bend Studio - who you may remember from Resistance: Retribution for PSP.
However, new details about the game's place in the Uncharted franchise's timeline have somewhat murkily emerged. Naughty Dog co-president Christophe Balestra reported to French gaming site Gameblog on May 18 that the game would run "parallel" to the console stories, between Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
But then Arne Meyer, Community Strategist at Naughty Dog stated over at a NeoGaf thread, that, "...I couldn't help but want to jump in and mention that the NGP storyline is set sometime before Drake's Fortune (and not a prequel). I'll leave the rest for the NGP/Uncharted NGP press campaign."
Since Bend Studio is being tight-lipped - presumably until E3 - and the original interview with Balestra is translated, we'll take Meyer at his (implied) word that the game will take place before Drake's Fortune entirely, but that it won't lead into that game as tightly as the "Eye of Indra" motion comic did.
In the end though, I have to ask: Does it even matter? Isn't Drake a lovable enough rapscallion that we'll take his adventures whenever and wherever they take us? I'm certainly willing to.

maybe it just means you wont be controlling drake, but i don't know if that will be the best of moves. because how can you have a parallel story with the same character? is not like he went back on time(or did he??????)

I take it like the Indiana Jones movies. We saw Temple of Doom after Raiders but Temple of Doom takes place before Raiders. I love the characters so much that I don't care what order I play the stories. Besides that in of itself gives it that homage to Saturday morning serials all the more.

How did you guys sneak this story past me (and based on the lack of comments, everyone else)?
Did you retroactively sneak this into your timeline or something?
I'm watching you guys. Suspiciously, that is.
