Angry Birds Downloaded 200 Million Times -- Now That's A Lot Of Flinging

Angry Birds

Angry Birds downloads surpassed 200 million, according to indie games developer Rovio. The wildly famous games - or infamous, depending on your perspective - started with humble beginnings, the original Angry Birds release launched in December of 2009 as a single-episode game with just three chapters for the iOs.

Now a full-fledged franchise with three games - Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio - as well as a vast collection of merchandise, it's hard not to count the game as one of the big boys. After all, hitting the 200 million mark just over two years after release (or hitting it at all) isn't something that happens terribly often.

With plans to bring the games to Windows Phone 7 devices on June 29, don't expect to stop hearing more about the flightless slingshotters anytime soon.
