Now that the PlayStation Network is mostly restored, Sony has revealed its "make good" offer to consumers, so pull yourself out of that multiplayer game on the PSN for a minute and receive your free stuff! The offer includes games, movies, PlayStation Plus access and free stuff for PlayStation Home.
Let's start with the games: Sony is giving PlayStation 3 users the choice of two of the following titles, available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored. They can be kept forever:
PSP owners will be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.
Here are the rest of the freebies you can expect for your loyalty and patience:
- A selection of “On Us” rental movie titles will be available to PlayStation Network customers over one weekend, where Video Service is available. Those titles will be announced soon.
- 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PlayStation Plus subscribers.
- Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive an additional 60 days of free subscription.
- Existing Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscription members will receive an additional 30 days of free premium subscription.
- Additional 30 days + time lost for existing members of Music Unlimited Premium/Basic subscription free of charge for existing Premium/Basic members.
- To welcome users Home, PlayStation Home will be offering 100 free virtual items. Additional free content will be released soon, including the next addition to the Home Mansion personal space, and Ooblag’s Alien Casino, an exclusive game.
So, what do you guys think? Is this compensation a generous gift? Or is it too little, too late? Does the offer affect your loyalty toward Sony in a positive or negative way?
Personally, I already own inFamous and LittleBigPlanet, but they are both top-notch games that you'll be very happy with... I guess it's Dead Nation and Wipeout for me!

My playstation network not even working damn thing keeps sayin error occur ugh I starting to not like ps3 at all

Little Big Planet and inFamous for free? Sign me up. I say Super Stardust HD and Wipeout HD are a mite casual for my tastes, so a free copy of inFAMOUS and either LittleBigPlanet or Dead Nation will have to do. I for one don't have any of those three titles, so getting them for free, free movie rentals, and a free month of Playstation + sounds like a fine deal to me. You won't find better anywhere, I think. And if you do, kindly let me know so I can get in on it before it's too late. I just wih you could choose one or two more games and had a longer list to choose from. Doesn't cost me anything, though, and they could have come up with some other way to try and compenate us for the lost time, so I say if this is the best Sony can do, then it's good enough and those not happy with it can go somewhere. Nobody told them they had to buy those games when they came out. The fault for the list being lackluster is on the people who already own those games because they couldn't show any restraint.
I mean, they paid for them, but I'm getting them for free and they're mine until the end of time. And, there's movie rentals and a month of the subscription service, all for free. Who got the better deal here? That's right, me. Why? Because I'm smart and decided to wait to get games I wanted because I didn't have the money and now, I'm getting them for free when Sony could have said they're doing something else to compensate. If this were an American corporation, I highly doubt it would be this good, but Sony is Japanese, and one thing I know about the Japanese is that if they screw up, they're deeply regretful for it and they'll bend over backwards to try to make it up to the wronged party. Some may say this is a start, but I say they just need to get the store back up already and we can move on.

I kinda like the free game possibilities, but there isn't enough!!! They should either increase the amount a little bit, or give us two free games of a certain price point or below, now that would be doing something!

WTF!?!?! these games are all crap. and STFU to everyone who thinks we shouldnt complain and that we dont deserve anything. I bought the PS3 for entertainment, and if Sony has a problem that contricts my entertainment, they owe me. If you eat at a restaurant and it takes them two hours to make your food, chances are they will at least give you a dessert for free. so far Sony has only given me leftovers.

The PlayStation Blog site also included Killzone Liberation on the PSP list.
I'm getting sick of the whiners saying "everybody already has those games." Do you have access to "everybody's" download list? (If so, Sony's lawyers want to talk to you). Personally, I don't have LBP or Dead Nation, Super Stardust, or the Fury Add-on (and the only reason I have Wipeout is that it came with my Plus subscription), nor do I have ANY of the PSP titles, as I only recently got a PSP. I had planned on getting Killzone Liberation anyway, so it's nice that it will be free.
Personally, I think the package looks pretty nice. But then, I would have been happy with an episode of Pulse with Christina Lee in a babydoll teddy.

I've wanted to play Infamous for a long time. All that putting off video games for real life has finally paid off!

How exactly do you redeem and download your free games? I can't find anywhere to download them and the Playstation Store says it's down for maintenance. The news post above and some of the commenters make it sound like you can actually get them now.

How about a more recent game that I have not had 3 years to buy already. How about a game I don't already own? Weak sauce.

As much of a hard time I've been giving PS3 during this whole outage. I have to admit, that's actually a decent deal. I'm sure gamers would complain about the selection of games, but to have infamous and little big planet for free, especially for the people who've never owned either game, is a pretty sweet deal.

This kind of reaction is very common in retail. Most of the time consumers think they are entitled to some shopping spree for the smallest inconvenience. BS! If you are genuinely pissed then there is usually little that can be done to compensate u. This is free stuff offered on a huge scale at the expense of another to keep ur business. No one is obligated to do stay and they don't have to do this. Forget the fact that there are more ailing things in this world like poverty and disease to be so cheap. Move along. Vote with ur dollar and learn if u get burned. Move to the competitor and move on with ur lives. The only issue is the integrity of their security and my info. I am satisfied therefore this freebee is a bonus. REMEMBER this is the world is full of unscrupulous people. ANYTIME u volunteer ur card number it is at risk and don't deny that u volunteered you number for convenience.

I can't believe people are complaining about what's already free. I have a friend who found this out the other day and now he has a ps3 just so he can reap some benefits. You literally get EVERYTHING for at least a month and two FULL games you can keep forever. So I don't see the problem here...
Jag23
Changed my pick from Stardust to Dead Nation. Good pick?
Djangorabbit
I'm rather happy that Sony is giving us this stuff. I can't wait to play deadnation, and I'ma rock the heck outta Super Star dust HD! And I will find out if I can get a psp game or two with My good o'l Griever (My PSP's name). And Free Playstation + for a whole month!? I'ma get me some minis! Plus I'll.... I'll.... Damn, what else can I do with all this goodness? I'll think of something. Too bad Xbox owners get crap and we get Infamous 2 and Wipe Out HD+Fury! I love those games!
Shadow_ben_jamin
Cool I mean, getting free stuff for something that I wasn't really upset about is pretty cool.
Jag23
Not bad I suppose.
Jag23
