PSN Down: Sony Announced Compensation Plans, Hopes To Have Full PSN Restored By End of Month

PSN access has been restored to the US and many other countries across Europe. One of the remaining countries that has yet to have access to the PSN restored is the country where Sony, itself, is located. Japanese authorities have stopped Sony's attempt to turn the PSN back on in Japan because they believe security measures are "incomplete."

NEWS: Amazon Server Involved In Sony PSN Network Outage

"We met with Sony on 6th May and 13th, and basically we want two things from them," Kazushige Nobutani, director of the Media and Content Industry department at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, told Dow Jones Newswires.

"The first is preventative measures. As of 13th May, Sony was incomplete in exercising measures that they said they will do on the 1st May press conference."

The preventative measures he was referring to remain a secret for security reasons. The second demand is said to pertain to Sony's plans to regain consumer confidence.

"There were similar cases in the past that were caused by other firms, and we are asking Sony whether their measures are good enough when compared to countermeasures taken in the past," Nobutani said.

There's no word on when the PSN will be restored in Japan. Do you think Japanese authorities are being overly cautious or was the PSN restored before it was ready?

HA! I asked around about X-box owners in Japan. They claim everyone that admits to owning an X-box has it for few reasons. Some are videogame reviewers, (They admit it basically falls on deaf ears when it comes to the X-box.). The rest have it spicificly for Monster Hunter Frontier and the games that came with the X-box when they got it. When you think about this, I almost feel sorry for something for some reason.

I do agree for japans sake considering the people just recently suffered a life to death situation and still is, it would be bad enough to also get robbed if your a psn user. This is a very big issue considering everyone uses credit cards now and days, I'm pretty sure no one wants there money robbed. Also Microsoft won't say anything at all cause they are enjoying the laughs that they take in on ps3 mistakes. It would look profession if you'd like to call it that. What i believe is that they give this team of people that brought down the psnetwork a job offer at PS considering there capabilities. If this was Microsoft I'm pretty sure Gates would have offered this guy a prize. Also if you can get past the 25 security levels of Microsoft you win 3.4mil :D but good luck. I hope this clears things up on this situation.

That seems like red flag to me, if japan doesnt think its ready. I might have to wait a while.

I actually agree! What's the point of giving it to us half baked? Because these beotches are crying to play multiplayer? That's not of importance! I'm sure we could survive another month with no psn knowing it's for a good cause. But sony is feeling sorry for u guys. Japan is lucky, considering. U guys on the otherhand go learn to play solo games. It won't hurt! Screw u if u disagree

Does anyone even use the X-box in Japan? I mean if it wasn't for Monster Hunter Frontier, the X-Box would be nothing more than a paper weight in the land where Monster Hunter reign supreme. Just sayin.

I think your gonna see a considerable drop with people who have credit card info on playstation, go out to buy those 20, and 50 dollar psn cards.

I think its more Japan is concentrating thier energy on thier crisis and hasent been able to spend the time on the Security of PSN, So I think that it is smart not to Put the network back up there. They need to focus thier energy where it's needed. and all sony ever wants to do just like X-box is make money so I personally don't feel safe with the PSN or X-box live networks anyways. It's just thier way of makin money off peeps. If truley you want the Old school games then they should release them on Disk format. That makes more sense to me anyways.

wow..the Japanese Government is taking a tougher stand on Sony, than a nuclear power plant that has been leaking dangerous levels of radiation for well over two months now...

I understand their caution, but seriously, would Sony turn the system back on and risk a second debacle that would basically cripple the future of the playstation division and the future of their qriocity service? Of course not, let them turn the servers back on

I think Japan is being overly cautious, but since Japan has one of the lowest crime rates in the entire world they have every right to be.
