Gotham City Impostors was just announced by Warner Bros. Interactive. The game will be a downloadable first-person shooter where players will battle for control over Gotham City. Gamers will play as "impostors" inspired by DC Comics characters like Batman and The Joker. Gotham City Impostors promises a level of customization similar to DC Universe Online where gamers can create their own heroes. It will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
From the official press release:
“Gotham City Impostors blows apart expectations for superhero games with an exaggerated take on first person shooters, set in a part of the DC Universe players have never seen before,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Monolith is creating a game that turns Gotham City upside down and we think fans are going to have a blast with this creative twist on multiplayer heroism and anti-heroism as they play up the classic rivalry between Batman and The Joker.”
The game will feature modes and maps inpsired by DC Comic's Batman series.

its not bad at all i been playing the beta. "the bat's" mention batman doesn't like guns but he left so its up to your everyday people to fight crime. they use all kinds of wacky gadgets and guns its quite fun. the bats are like it says.."Imposters" so your just doing what you can its DC Comics meets Kick Ass where everyday amateur villains/vigilante's are doing their part.
its in gotham but its based off that batman left, and gotham pd can't do anything. so your fry cooks/office geeks take arms to defend the city.

All in all it's a good game. custom kill cam obsenities *trash talking of all kinds* custom characters ranging from cardboard batmasks to the official rubber batmask. i plan to buy it as soon as it on the 7th for PC *only tried ps3 beta cause i heard about it late"

This sounds kinda like a flipper chid of Arkham City and Cod.
Why go there? I just hope i ain't a pile of crap like most of the Batman games.

they never said batman would be in the game. it just takes place in gotham city. batman inspired characters from the comics is what they said and the article also went on to say you would create your own superhero similar to the way in dc univers. now tell me where does it says batman would be in the game.

since batman arkham city will not have multiplayer. they are will to make a stand alone game in itself. i hope its good. though i know a lot of ppl wanted multiplayer in the game. at least they will be making a multiplayer game by itself. i think that adding multiplayer for the fans sake will just ruin the experience of an already awesome title.

I think most are taking the term first person shooter way to literal. Played so much modern warfare can't think outside the box. Batman can shoot grappling hooks, throw bat-a-rangs, throw smoke capsules. Technically he's not shooting but it could still be considered that.

I am a batman fan.. but this is not sounding as a game of intrest for me.. I'll have to wait and see more..

What?? How is that going to work?? Batman doesn't even LIKE guns. I'm little curious though to see how this is going to work.

This could be cool if it were combined with Arkham City. The mulitplayer gameplay could be something like "spies vs mercenaries" on the older Splinter Cell games.

I'm afraid I just don't see the point in a game like this. Arkham City is coming out pretty darn soon so you'd think there'd be no need for another Batman game this quickly. Unnecessary at best.
