According to reports on Eurogamer, E3 will see the announcement of "at least 10" non-sequel Kinect titles. Eurogamer's sources say these titles will "serve the hardcore" and "won't be obvious." Eurogamer also saysKinect titles Kinect Sports 2 and Dance Central 2 will be announced at the show.
There's a lot of speculation as to who is developing what Kinect game over at Eurogamer's site, so feel free to dig in, but as for the overall thrust of the report -- that Kinect is entering its "hardcore" phase-- what do you think?
As of yet, there really haven't been any commercial releases that have really stoked the interest of core gamers, but there have been a ton of intriguing hacks that have used Kinect for everything from playing Minecraft to 3D video capture. I wonder what innovative uses of Kinect we'll see at E3?

I got a kinect as gift, was very surprised as I really didn't have much hype/desire for one, (too 1984ish for me) child of eden will be a must own.
If hardcore means 10-20 year olds who only play FPS shootersthen I don't care what they want.

'motion control' + 'hardcore' = paradox

OOPS, a little reading for habitual liars
Guinness World Records, the global authority on record breaking, today confirm that the Kinect for the Xbox 360 is the Fastest-Selling Consumer Electronics Device. The hardware, that allows controller-free gaming, sold through an average of 133,333 units per day, for a total of 8 million units in its first 60 days on sale from 4 November 2010 to 3 January 2011.
The sales figures outstrip both the iPhone and the iPad for the equivalent periods after launch.
Gaz Deaves, Editor of Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer s Edition, said: The sales figures here speak for themselves. We can confirm that no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector.
The new record will be included in the next Guinness World Records Gamer s Edition, which recognises record breaking achievement in the world of videogames. The current Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition is available in both book and eBook versions at http://gamers.guinnessworldrec ords.com.

This isn't going to sell. Crap games go with crap hardware. Buy a Move and Wiimote if you want to enjoy yourself.

I still need a good reason to buy a Kinect. My guess is that out of those ten titles that are not sequels, only one or two will actually be worth buying.

Kinect developers have already stated that Kinect is not solely for hands free.
There already exists numerous hands free games. Long ago Kudo Tsundona pointed to what he called hybrid games.
In the same way that the Sony Move uses a standard controller or the Wii-mote rip-off, Kinect will also use a standard controller.
For example, Move and shoot with a standard controller and control squad mates with hand signals like in real life.

@Yourworld- It definitely would make it like the move if it is true. I figured the whole point of the Kinect is to be totally hands free, and I really don't want to go out and buy any add on for a hands free device. Sort of defeats the purpose. But at the same time I've always felt it was a little ambitious on Microsoft's part to create a device that's totally hands free, and not think through how far they can go with it and what all they can offer for that platform. Sooner or later gamers would eventually expect more then just waving their arms for every game they play.

Still think Dead Rising 2(and future titles) Portal 2 and Skyrim need motion support. It makes sense.

Hardcore btw is a mouse and keyboard. Not some generic joystick that points in the general direction. Remember the days of Quake Cons and other PC based tournaments. Console gamers could never compete with those players. They'd get online and just get fragged over and over again.

It's about time they make games for real gamers... Not the kiddy crappy they have been producing.
By the way... MS ur a punk for buying out Skype... Must be a desperate move to thwart Google.

I want some updates, like individual finger tracking, even individual hair tracking. This could be great, I will give the benifit of the doubt.

I seriously doubt any major title will be envolved with kinect for some time. Its far to easy to dull or dumb a game up with kinect. Controls are slow. And reaction time will be even slower. GOW3, 5, 7 or 9 will most likely not be played like this. Sure they want to, but what it would taketo run smoothly just as far as the console(s) are concerned. Not to mention internet lag (you cheep dial up $#@%*&!). Lol. But anyway, here's to hoping though either way right?

They lying.

Please tell me what is so HARDCORE about shaking and wiggling your butt in front of a camera. Pointing with authority, sounds hardcore, I guess. Moving in a 3D space to manipulate a simulated 3D environment on a 2D platform (TV) can some how translate into a hardcore experience? How? Without hologram technology that can blend our space with the video game worlds, I just can't see this happening.
What are your thoughts my fellow consumers of G4TV.com?

GOW3 will be Kinect palyable, and i cant wait to see how Star Wars is looking too.

It's a shame instead of taking the attitude of "let's make a good game" they now refer to making certain titles as "serving" people.
