Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

A huge glut of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 information has hit the internet this morning, with game blog Kotaku posting a ton of what they say are details, pictures and audio covering the unannounced game's characters, story, gameplay, and more. In other words: If this turns out to be true, it's the spoiler of all spoilers for fans of Modern Warfare.

We're not going to post all the specific details here (even the illustrative picture you see above is from Modern Warfare 2), but be warned: If you want to keep your playing experience totally pristine, I'd stop reading now and would not visit Kotaku's site.

Overall (if Kotaku's reports turn out to be accurate), Modern Warfare 3 seems to keep pretty relatively true to the "formula" established by the first two Modern Warfare games. The campaign action picks up where the last game left off, and the succeeding levels will put you into the skin of a bunch of different characters, in locations throughout the world, and feature shooting levels interspersed with punchy, action-oriented sequences. Along with the one-off dudes, you'll be playing as both well-known MW characters from past games, and with some new "main" characters. According to the posts, all the loose ends from previous games will be tied up in the latest installment of the game.

Reports of the multiplayer mention 20 maps (although it's unclear how many of these are planned as DLC) and several different game modes.

So, what do you guys think? Are you going to check out the spoilers? Does it sound like a good game?

how is it that this site gets so many spoilers? it seems like all they have to do is make a call and they have the whole story of a game months before it comes out.

well they better keep the perks and weapon upgrades like black ops has. and how you dont have to play 50 hours to unlock the AK.

I heard mwf3 was in manhattan... i mean, really, rip off Crysis 2 much?

honestly, eventhough i play cod more than battlefield, just because bf3 looks preety good(understatement) i might get it just to try it out. it seems like a better game especially with a harder multiplayer environment. it is true that ppl pretty much just run and gun in cod, and sometimes i need to see how it is like in battlefield.

btw how was bfbc2 multiplayer? just asking

Just wait and watch, the day MW3 comes out and is reviewed while people rush home to play it are gonna be disappointed and go back to playing Black-ops like most people did went back to MW2 when Black-ops came out.

I don't mind if all the squeakers and mindless BK's stay hooked on Mw3 though, better off for me to enjoy BF3 when it comes out :)

    CoD series needs to stop.

I'm NOT reading the spoilers. Thank you, G4, for not actually posting the leaked info. I, for one, think it's stupid that some idiot either hacked into their servers to obtain the info, or some moron inside released it. What happened to waiting for a game to come out? You can't get a big title any more without knowing everything about it before it even hits the shelves. Just play the freaking game. Enough with all the leaked info,

I enjoy the Call of Duty games that Infinity ward makes. Overall I think the Modern Warfare series have been polished, well made games. While World at War and Black ops were just so-so games that treyarch made to hold over fanboys who aren't willing to wait 2 years

maybe i'll try the campaign some time since it's gonna be short anyway, won't spend my money on it though.
might be a good game but, who needs a new one every year :/

I hate the story for the modern warfare games, so incoherent. And I don't see the point of playing with different characters who aren't related to each other in any way. Treyarch did a great job with black ops, don't think MW3 will top that.

after not hearing anything at all about the next COD game i was looking forward to being surprized at E3 but it looks like that wolnt happen. it would also help the COD franchise to wait longer for the release of a sequel as apposed to a new COD game every year

The truth of the matter is, everyone is taking this way out of proportion. Call of Duty has been the same type of game for the length of the series. It delivers the same content every year and that's what people expect. But what makes this a bad thing? Why can't they keep making these games? They obviously sell extremely well and get a lot of attention. There is so much hate on these forums about COD saying how bad the franchise is. Well it cant be that bad if they're on the 8th installment(MW3) and working on a 9th(Black Ops 2). Yeah, they make them cause it makes them money. Well guess what. That's what life is about. Money. It sucks but its true. So before everyone on here starts destroying this comment just realize that millions upon millions of people love and buy this game year after year so someone somewhere is doing something right.

While I don't emjoy the making of games for the purpose of making money, I have to give credit nhere it's due. I'm even probably going to buy this game just because the story is kinda well-written, and it's also been a fun series to play with a group of friends. I am also going to try to get BF3, because that seems like it's going to be the COD-Killer.

This game is not going to turn out good... After reading the spoilers, I am just disappointed. Not at Infinity Ward, because its not really them any more. Not at Activision, because my opinion of them literally couldn't be any lower. No, I am disappointed in gamers, because I just know that this will be a massive commercial success for the sole reason that it carries the once great Call of Duty brand name. This game will come to represent everything I hate in gaming: creating games for the sole purpose of making money (and nothing else), nixing storytelling for more action (like every Micheal Bay film), and the fact that with every game, COD is inching closer and closer to the same grave in which Guitar Hero is buried. I really hope that I am wrong, I hope that has an amazing singleplayer, I hope that all the success that it generates will be well deserved... but after reading the article, I just don't think that will be the case.

Unless they change something dramatic with COD:MW3 I don't see myself buying it. BF3 seems so tasty because of all the videos when IW starts spilling the good it will seem better.

I'm done buying COD game. I'm with one of the other guys, if someone gets it for me for xmas or something I will play it. If it has any type of subscription service (even if its just a extra) I will burn it in my back yard. I pay for XBL, no reason that I should pay for a game service as well as the game then. Pay to play should be reserved for MMO's IMO.
