April was a busy month for gamers with games like Mortal Kombat, Portal 2 and SOCOM 4. The numbers are in and thanks to the NPD Group we can rest assured that game sales have gone up in both units and profit since last year. The NPD Group gathered data on "physical retail sales." This means digital distribution of games doesn't get counted when coming up with these stats. If downloads were counted, do you think Portal 2 would be higher on the list?

You may notice that SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs didn't make the list. It's not clear why the game failed to make an impact on the sales charts but it is likely that sales are being affected by the PSN outage. The NPD did add that if the SOCOM 4 Move bundle's sales were combined with regular SOCOM 4 sales it would have ranked.

Do they bunch the multiplatform game numbers together to make this list? That could also be a factor in Socom 4 no making it. Most of the games up there are multiplatform. I like the old format where they divided the console numbers.

I think Socom 4 is a decent game. I really like the 3D quality too. I purchased that and Crysis 2 for the PS3 and Black Ops and Mortal Kombat for the Xbox. May have to trade my Crysis 2 in for the Xbox version if the outage keeps up. There were more sold as well so the community may sustain longer.

Regardless of the outage, Another possible reason Socom 4 didn't sell much because the bad taste of Socom:confrontation, Mainly that was the last game I bought till now. Will I buy Socom 4 and Fire team Bravo 3? Most likely but not right now.

If a game didnt make the list why drag it up? I'm pretty sure that every other game not on that list didnt make it on that list. Why not review them ALL. Unless, The writer could be one of those people who thought Socom was going to be a succes because they couldnt get it on thier system of choice who are now the same people relived or shocked that it didnt do well. Thus feling the need to mentioning it at all. G4 really needs to check this fanboy crap, its getting old.....hang in there sessler!
PS: What is the deal with the White version of Pokemon selling better than black, I have Black. On the web site more users even have Black registered to play in the online dream world. I guess its all the unregistered younglings that the parents refused to buy the seemingly more dark version of the game for that may be responsible for making that happen.

Hopefully now that means that the Socom 4 Full Deployment Bundle will lower drastically in price, so I can pick it up.

I knew it's going to be a fight between Mortal Kombat and Portal 2 to be on top. I thought the latter would be the one. Still, it's great that both games are on up there.

The fact that pretty much every Socom fan on the official forums is boycotting Socom 4 may had something to do with it, that and its a CoD clone that sucks.

Anything is far ahead of CoD (I want to punch anyone buying that truly awful game), but I too thought Socom was a little slow-paced. I prefer better shooters like Doom or UT. Crap like CoD, those kiddie games on 360, or this aren't wanted.

It doesn't surprise me that Socom didn't make the April numbers at all considering it is mainly an online game and the PSN being down near its release. As for MK, bought it day one because of the demo and was well worth the full price. Sadly I can't say the same for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, I should have waited for it to be $20, especially in comparison of how much content that MK gives the players.

I tried out the beta for SOCOM 4 and I personally didn't really like it.
Anyway, I am glad to see Mortal Kombat doing so well. I unfortunately do not own the game (yet), but I enjoyed the demo a lot. This is coming from someone who never plays fighting games and has never played MK before! lol
