Outland Review -- A Game That Looks Great And Plays Better

Outland is the gorgeous platformer from Housemarque that nods to famous Gamecube title Ikaruga, forcing players to change their color back and forth in order to progress through interesting and inspiring levels. The game takes side scrolling platforming to another level, and our reviewer Jeffrey Matulef was pleasantly surprised by what Outland had to offer:

"The world is worth exploring too, with a mesmerizing aesthetic. Drawing from such diverse influences as Wayne Barlowe, Dave McKean, Shadow of the Colossus, and Tron, Outland looks unlike anything else out there. Foregrounds are shrouded in silhouettes punctuating the vibrant, detailed backgrounds. Oversaturated and hyper-stylized, its simultaneously rustic and ethereal visuals keep with the game's lucid tone."
