Rumors are beginning to appear indicating Electronic Arts may have the new Xbox console. The story comes from Devlop-Online and according to their sources, EA developers have a very early build of Microsoft's next console. The build is in such early stages that it doesn't even have casting yet. Developers are already creating first-generation software, according to their sources anyway.
From Develop-Online:
"Quite often when new consoles come around they’re packaged into a PC shell, but actually what’s inside is an entirely new console,” a senior, trusted, well-placed source said."
Their source believes the console will launch by the end 2012, contradicting reports that Sony and Microsoft will delay their next consoles until 2014.
Eurogamer decided to do their own sleuthing and contacted their sources. According to their insiders an E3 reveal is "highly unlikely" but did not rule it out.
I find these reports questionable at best. But I do believe Nintendo's decision to reveal their next console in just a month lit a fire under other companies. Microsoft and Sony must be thinking about ways to make sure Nintendo doesn't steal the thunder at E3. Do you think these reports have merit? I have all current systems and a sweet PC. But I never use my 360 because I had 4 die on me in as many years. Every time I turn it on I think it is going to die. I have never had any other systems die on me going back to Atari. I always buy the new systems on launch. I would LOVE a new Xbox that WORKED! I buy all games on the other consoles just to avoid having to play the 360. I only have 4 games on 360, Halo 3, Reach, Dead Rising and Alan Wake. I have 22 games on the PS3, a few on Wii and I buy most for the PC.

I'm still trying to figure out why there's a need for a new console already. ( i know it's been a while so dont burn me on the already)
In contrast, I dont think I've really seen what a developer can do with the ps3's hardware. Yeah skyrim and uncharted 3 look absolutely ballz, but is that really as far as the system can be pushed ? I dont think so, in the past new consoles were dictated by not only marketing but the idea of there can be more done with a newer system. Again, why put out a new system when you can't fully use the one u have out now. Microsoft I could see putting one out with the same or higher specs as the ps3, but as of now i think we stil have until atleast 2014 with our ps3's.

Nothing is coming out. The new Nintendo console is not suprising, but a PS4 and an Xbox 3 is not gonna be announced. The motion controllers for the consoles literally JUST came out. The two companies need to support them.

First of all, there is no way that MS will announce a new console at E3 and completely pull the rug out from under all the companies developing Xbox 360 games for 2012-anyone who even considers a new console announcement from MS at this years E3 is a moron. Second, no, the new Nintendo console will not "light a fire" under Sony and MS, but it does appear as though Nintendo is finally becoming somewhat disenchanted with its-I only buy maybe 2 games a year casual gamer customer base-welcome to HD Nintendo-oh and to just let you know-there are also these things out there Nintendo called "hard drives" and they like let you save data!! woo!

It could be possible that there is a new Xbox in the works but there is no way it's releasing next year. They just released Kinect and I imagine they'd want to support that before releasing a new system. 2014 seems like a much more probable release.

even if this is true it would be in such early stages that it wouldnt be announced this year. You figure they just show it off in 2012, 2013 its playable so it would be a release of 2013 earliest but most likely 2014. Gaming consoles take years to create so i wouldnt worry about this.

Maybe it will light a fire for actual price cuts. The top of the line Xbox360 should be no more than 299 with Kinect. PS3 ditto, 299 with move. Adding HD space and keeping the prices over 299 at this point in the lifecylce is insane.

For all i know is that something's up. Local electronics stores (in our area at least as far as i know) have been putting the 360 on promotion for the last 2 months, giving gift cards if you buy a 360 or free controller or dropping the hard drive for $99.
It could be a new SKU like an xbox 360 with a bigger hard drive, possibly phasing out the 4gb. Hopefully when they release a new xbox, it would be up to par or maybe even surpassing the pc hardware (i doubt it). And if they announce a new console, they are just jeopardizing their possible income this holiday season when all the good games supposed to come out....

there's no objection that the xbox outsells the ps3 by a large margin. mainly because owners of the xbox are being duped to buying new consoles whether its the latest console from microsoft or just an older model of the xbox or the same model entirely... this is due to the short lifespan of the console, ive had 4 xbox's in the past, and i know i should've stopped at three, but with exclusives like halo and gears of war and forza, i am forced to either service the broken crap of a console or
just a buy a new one to continue playing.. i am not starting a console war, like i've said i owned 4 xbox's, and i know a lot of people would disagree with what i've said and claim that their xbox outlives the ps3, well my friends i am very happy for your sake... you are truly blessed!

i hope the other companies dont just put something out there to compete with nintendo but actually take their time to offer something innovative and NOT BUGGY or DEFECTIVE to the gaming market, even if it takes an extra 2 or 3 years.

Meh, not interested. Haven't they learned from their first 2 failures? They should go make sneakers or something that doesn't break from overheating. However if they keep selling consoles they'll keep losing money, leading to a joyful closing of their game department (they aren't going anywhere). Possibly making room for Sega to get back into it, then I can have 3 consoles again each with something to offer.
I think it's too soon for any console really, there's so much left to do with the Wii and PS3. If I want a red ring I'll buy a frisbee or play the NES Legend of Zelda.

If this is true, then I have a feeling Microsoft who will always be Microsoft, will only support the 360 for a limited time before they force you to upgrade. They did to the XBOX with the exception of one game, they'll do it again. Hopefully Halo: Reach will be that one game.
