PSN, Playstation Network

Sony may be hit by yet another attack this weekend. According to CNET, hackers are planning to attack Sony's website in the next few days. The attack is said to be a response to Sony's handling of the PSN security breach. The plan would be to publicize some or all of the data hackers were able to find on Sony's servers. This would potentially include the names, addresses and credit card numbers of more than 75 million PSN users.

NEWSSony To Offer "AllClear ID Plus" Identity Theft Protection For Free

A group of hackers were talking in an IRC channel when someone who either overheard or was a part of the conversation told CNET about the plan. These hackers claim to have access to Sony's servers.

This is, of course, not confirmed, especially since no one has taken credit for the attacks. In Sony's statement to the US House of Representatives they claimed to have discovered files hinting at Anonymous involvement, such as the words "We are legion." Anonymous has repeatedly denied their involvement and further condemned the theft of credit card numbers.

Sony did not get back to CNET about these reports.

You know when they find these guys who are being complete selfish jerks I hope a full scale riot of gamers break out to beat the living crap out of them. This is just annoying. I want to play my games. If Anon is going to hack them because Sony said they found We Are Legion in their system they just need to grow up. Id believe Sony more than you if you keep ruining something that more people than your circle jerk of douchebags actually use.

I am a Software Engineer, and I think these piece of crap hackers need to get their asses beat. If someone steals from me, guess what, they get beat down. I hope they are found and everyone of them gets put in jail or gets the hell beat out of them. What is all this BS accomplishing? Nothing!! Probably gives the little punks some type of hard-on! I am sooooo sick of this BS!!

i just dont see the point these hackers are trying to make? as many has already posted, yes it does hurt Sony but only in credibility. In reality is only hurting the users. So what are they trying to do? that they can screw millions of people? Trust me Sony can come back from this and keep making money.

Good for them. I'm not a 360 fanboy or anything (XBL is undoubtedly better though because of Microsoft's experience), I just like seeing the underdogs beat the corporations. Sony better get their stuff together thats for sure, they're gettin' made the fool of by the real computer scientists of the world.

Funny, this doesn't sound like an attack on Sony. It sounds a lot like an attack on me. Yes, Sony's reputation will take another hit, but I care less about that than I do about my identity being stolen.
