PlayStation Network PSN

After announcing that the PlayStation Network would indeed have some services restored this week, Sony has released a statement saying they're in the final stages of internal testing on their new security system.

No word on how long these final steps will take, or when the service will actually be back up and running again, but it looks like, for now, things aren't all bleak on the Sony front. For the full statement, check after the break.

Today our global network and security teams at Sony Network Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment began the final stages of internal testing of the new system, an important step towards restoring PlayStation Network and Qriocity services.

As previously mentioned, we’ve been working around the clock to rebuild the network and enhance protections of your personal data. It’s our top priority to ensure your data is safe when you begin using the services again.

We understand that many of you are eager to again enjoy the PlayStation Network and Qriocity entertainment services that you love, so we wanted you to be aware of this milestone and our progress. We will provide additional updates as soon as we can.

So that sounds promising. Are you guys ready to have your PSN turned back on, or are you still mad at Sony? Let us know.

Good on Anonymous (or whoever), serves sony right for filing lawsuits against people whose only crime was to alter property which they rightfully own. You buy a ps3 it should by yours to do with whatever you wish.

Xbox chose not to persue this matter Sony did = Sony gets hacked

I'm just tired of the excuses, I wish they would have told us that it will take around a month to get it back up and running from the jump instead of "soon" this and "soon" that. I have DCUO that added to the stress, I wish they had a concrete date you know? I am just tired of the wait.

I'm not infected at all by this, I have DCUO...but, I have XBL as well. If both were down at the same time, then...whatever. Last time I checked most games can be played offline, women are dressing less, and the sun is out. Unless someone is using your personal credit card info in order to buy the entire line-up of games...then stop complaining! PSN will be back up when it's ready. It's not like you're paying for it...well...unless it's PSN+

That said, I own every freakin' console & portable that EVER came out...I show no loyalty to any company, I love every system I own...well...except the Atari Jaguar! :/

Point is...I'm tired of all this fanboyism. It's annoying as all hell. I'm a real life Johnny Cage, I my not be an action movie-star...yet, but I do have a black-belt in Tae-kwon-do, Aikido, and Kempo...so, the next time I see a fanboy on the street...I'm going to do a "Steven Segal" and "c*ck-punch" his @$$!!

Wouldn't it be to Annons benefit, if they are not to blame, to help Sony find the hackers, instead of continuing to deny that they were involved? I'm just saying, prove your innocence with your actions. Not doing anything just doesn't seem the best defense. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

I still think it might be a government though, possibly China? Or any nation who would want to exploit the devastating events in Japan? Maybe it's a corporation? Those are a few questions that need answering.

Disc changing angle- haven't heard that one in a while.
true matter at hand , is that alot of customers who have paid for online experience, whether it is buying a multi player game, or just want co op with a family member who is not living near you- it is unacceptable.
Its a shame this group have nothing better to do than to hack into a companies' mainframe- but hopefully this serves as an eye opener to others in the industry on the importance of their online security

if you kids stopped treating this as a console war and showed some unity, the hackers would piss themselves and stop out of fear. but instead, most of you immature kids are using this to hate on microsoft and psn. you guys aren't doing anything but making both companies look bad.

Symnicide - I'm embarrassed to be standing in the ps3 camp with you. You might as well say the scene in mgs4 where otacon tells you to switch the discs is retarded. This isn't about switching discs, or if XBL is better or has better games. This is about Sony getting on their horse and fixing this problem hopefully before the weekend starts.

I hope with the free PS plus I can get in on the early uncharted 3 beta before it runs out.
otherwise, free is free you get what you pay for and it's time I upped my XBLA to gold anyway,
get it done Sony. Unless you want to start hemorrhaging PSN members like blood from a huge gash.
