Mass Effect 3 has been delayed until 2012. When it was revealed last December BioWare promised the game would be ready for Holiday 2011. A forum post confirmed the delay saying they needed more time to make it the "biggest, boldest and best game in the series." BioWare via Igromania released a fresh batch of screenshots to lessen the blow but I'm going to be honest, it's not helping.

The official blog post confirming my greatest fears:
"Today we have confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations.” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer Mass Effect series.
We'll have more details about specific dates as we get closer to release."

Good, I have to much stuff to play from June until February... Kind of scary how the release date on G4 says May 21, 2030... That is an EPIC typo.

@FuzzofPekinopolis: why don't mentioned that to lucidity? He's the one who likes to mentioned Metacritic, especially when it favors a XBox game.

I play games that I like, I have never even looked at Metacritic. Could care less, and your arguments are pointless. Just let it go Hokage007, it's not worth it, play games you want to play. Let everybody else be miserable following pie-charts to decide if a game is good or not.

@ lucidity, I think U need 2 check your little metacritic site again because even do ME2 got a high rated which was 94, it still wasn't higher than Red Dead Redemption or Portal 2. PS Uncharted 2 is the second highest game on that review site with 96. Just thought you should know that since all you care about is reviews and game scores.

That does pretty much suck but as others are pointing out, there are still a lot of other great looking games like Uncharted 3, Skyrim and Rage coming out this holiday season. Now lets just hope that none of THEM get delayed.

I don't like Mass Effect. Yes, the story isn't exactly new, the script for characters is fairly dull, and gunplay is fairly wooden, but my biggest problem is environment. They build this huge looking building but you have little more movement available than a rail shooter. It's a small area that you're able to walk through, and no matter how pretty the wall looks, you can feel it whenever you hit a railing or piece of furniture. And speech options give the appearance of choice, rarely an actual choice.

I both love and hate this at the same time. Obviously I want ME3 as soon as possible, so I hate the delay. BUT...if it means that the game will be that much better because of it, then I'm all good with it. I can wait. I wish they would have done this with DA2, as it would probably have made an already good game that much better.
This just means that I'll have more time to put into Forza 4, and it increases my chances of buying Skyrim day 1.

No surprised with the delay, seeing as Dragon Age II was rushed like hell and played like ass, Bioware wouldn't want a a repeat with ME3. Besides with strong RPGs coming out this year like Witcher 2 and Skyrim, Bioware thought they had no chance with winning the best RPG in 2011, so they might try next year.

I knew this was coming a few weeks ago when they said they were starting to at weapons from Battlefield and essentially it was implied that they were overhauling them all. 8 months is not enough time for sweeping changes like that.

1. Mass Effect 2 just came out. Stop whoring these yearly releases and give it time. You're make us more tired of it than Ayumi Hamasaki fans buying her 3rd new Single for a 3rd consecutive week. (Really Happened. She's a talentless release whore).
2. I still haven't finished Mass Effect 2.
3. There are so many other games I need to get back into playing and complete.

Oh Bioware, you never cease to make me slit my own wrists at the thought of waiting longer, on the other hand, it gives me more time to play Red Faction, and laugh at the PSN crash, and their pending 1 buh buh buh billion dollar lawsuit to worry about. But, all will fix itself in due time.

honestly, as much as it sucks, it really doesn't make a difference to me, I'll be preordering it soon. if it gets delayed again, no biggie. As long as they polish the crap out of it, squash any bugs, and make it playable enough so that we don't have to dl patches right out of the gate, i'll be happy.
