The Darkness 2 has a release date, October 4, 2011. The Darkness 2 continues the story of The Darkness, released in 2007. The series draws from the Top Cow comic series of the same name. The Darkness 2 picks up two years after D1 as Jackie Estacado has advanced to Don of the Estacado crime family. The game boats Quad-Wielding gameplay, and they trade-marked Quad-Wielding, that's how serious they are about it.
The Darkness 2 will be released on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Side note: I've named his two shoulder-demons Flotsam and Jetsam.

Super disappointed by their re-imagining of so much of the core of the source material. I understand not wanting a green and yellow costume, but turning the darkness into nothing more than some long, snake arms and a way to summon a couple minions is beating it with the nerf stick a little hard. In the comic, Jackie likes to remind people he doesn't need guns anymore, but that's certainly not true for this incarnation. Also, he's basically bulletproof. Normal humans give him no trouble, only supernatural enemies have ever even made him lose his breath. This is like making a superman game where his only power is moving kinda fast and punching people hard and having him fight street thugs who can somehow manage to kill him if he's not careful. /rant

WTF? I want to see some gameplay...I thought the first was gonna be awesome and actually like it but only beat it once and wouldn't go back as it seemed all I did was use the darkness to hit every little light out which was more of a choir that fun. yea sure it was cool at the time but games now are way better and never could bring myself to play it over again, I guess I had high hopes since it was from makers of Chronicles of Riddick which was awesome for it's time too.

Mike Patton of Faith No More does a great job with the voices in this game, just wanna be able to stretch the darkness longer, it seemed like a short span at times in the first one. Besides that one gripe, stellar game!

I bought the first game because I loved the comics but was so let down.

I'd rather have a cool Witchblade game, but this could still be cool~!! :P

Awesome, although that's a huge spoiler to put in an announcement trailer for the sequel.
