Assassin's Creed Revelations may take place in Istanbul, Turkey, if the cryptic teaser that appeared on the game's Facebook page is any indication. The new game in Ubisoft's historical action series was leaked last week on Facebook, and ever since then cryptic messages have been flowing out of the page revealing more and more details on the title.
The new teaser flashed the numbers 24061459 and a Tughra on top of a picture of the Hagia Sophia, a very famous building with an extremely rich history that's located in Istanbul. The numbers, after much internet detective work, we've found actually represent a date: 24.06.1459, or June 24, 1459, the birth date of Ezio from Assassin's Creed 2 and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. The Tughra is the seal for a sultan, used to sign documents. So if we put all the clues together they clearly point towards an Istanbul setting. If it's true then we're pretty excited, as this was one of the places that we wanted to see the Assassin's Creed series visit. Check after the jump for the trailer.

I wish they put it in somewhere like America in the 1700s or even England in the 1600-1700s. Id love to see some Ancient Greece unless it doesnt go back that fat

I personally love the Italy setting and Ezio but this new game couldbe pretty badass. AC has yet to fail me and maybe we w ill get little novices like Brotherhood XD Novices gonna Novice

I think an Assassin's Creed that went back to Altair would be interesting, though, if it were about another Assassin who possessed and better learned to use the Apple of Eden (the very thing that made Desmond Snap in AC: Brotherhood, right?) - to synchronise him more with the Apple? (Ezio did well, but I think much of what he really did was based on emotion and 'rage', rather than training and skill.)
I do kinda want to see what happens in the 2012 world, but for the sole fact that I don't get my cool equipment, I don't really care about playing as Desmond.
I do, however, hope that, despite this game possibly moving to _before_ Assassin's Creed 2/:Brotherhood, we get plentiful amounts of new gadgets (or redesigns of past ones). :D

Considering the date, I figure it's either
A) Ezio's Father
B) A New Assassin Entirely
Either one is still techincally a new assassin. I noticed Altair's Hidden Blade and a bit of Masyf. Unless Altair has a stock pile of health potions then I figure we're playing as a new character. If you notice ACII and Brotherhood, Ezio didn't have Altair's Gauntlent. It's possible one of his other son's got it. Also Altair (according to the Codex Pages) visits Cyprus and Central Asia/China (to deal with Genghis Khan). It's plausable that one of the sons settled down in that area and eventually started a Masyaf in Constaninople.
Also, I noticed that reading the Codex Pages we don't actually get Altair's Death. In a similar fashion that Subject 16 encoded the Animus, is it possible for Altair to encode the Apple? Theoretically, Desmond should still have it (or be near it) and it would be like Cortana to Master Chief. Altair would help him figure out stuff?

I thought for sure that the new game would be Desmond in present day. They've been building up to him being an assassin since the first game. I was kinda hoping for a more modern setting since the last 3 games have been set in the past. Either way, I'm sure it'll be a good game.

Well it is unclear whether the story is progressing closer to modern times or is going even further back it seems like. If Istanbul is the main city of the new game, the Ottoman Empire is likely going to play a large roll in the game.
Up until its downfall after WWI the Ottoman Empire was considered a major threat to European Christianity, several times over centuries it attempted to invade central Europe, although it never got past Vienna, Austria. At its height it controlled a large portion of Southeast Europe, including the Balkan peninsula.
It is possible the game may actually stay right around the time of Ezio since the Ottoman Empire had only recently rose to prominence around his time. Either way, I'm excited for this game.

The new one is 11011065 which is Ezio's bday. He may be in it.

The eagle in the new trailer is the crest for the byzantine empire, seljuk turks, and the holy roman empire. It has also been used for other nations and empires. The eagles with the sword and ball specifically can be seen in the russian federation and empire, montenegro, the greek orthodox church, and the austrian empire.

Well if Desmond is going to be in it then one of his ancestors has to be the main character, and with the date given it almost has to be Ezio's father.
