We can all agree that generally movies don't translate too well in to videogames, but for once we might be wrong. Kevin Kelly recently got his hands on Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, the videogame based off the Green Lantern movie, and seemed pleasantly surprised by the story and combat. Green Lantern the videogame will take place after the events in the movie and take place on the Green Lanterns' home planet of Oa.
"Obviously, the heart of Green Lantern are the willpower based attacks, which are meant to be an extension of his will. Anything he can think of, he can create via the ring’s power. In the game, these take the form of hard light constructs, and range from giant baseball bats, to Gatling guns, to mech-styled power armor. You summon these by pulling on the left or right triggers, which pulls up a four-button map representing which constructs you have assigned to each of the buttons for each trigger."

I'll wait for the reviews of this game before I decide to get it or not.

Am I the only one getting a little tired of the way they talk about movie game tie ins? Everytime a movie based video game is on the verge of coming out they say things like "movie games dont translate well into video games but for ONCE we may be wrong". A lot of movie games are bad, but don't act like good ones have never existed. Spiderman 2 is praised as one of the best sandbox games ever and, in my opinoin, is the best Spiderman game ever made. X-Men Origins: Wolerine was far superior to the movie. And of course let's not forget one of the most widely loved shooters in the history of games Goldeneye 007....is a movie game.

Damn, was hoping it would be a 3DS preview.

Hmm.. X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a pretty decent game. I would say better than the movie of it's namesake. If this story is true, then maybe a trend is beginning. A trend I have been hoping to happen for years. Of course, I've been burned before (Iron Man anyone?) so I'll wait for the official reviews from my chosen expert opinions and user reviews before picking this up. But my hopes are high because being Hal Jordan could be an epic win that I have dreamed of for years.
