Gears of War 3's multiplayer beta is on everyone's minds right now. With new characters, new weapons and new maps, we're sure you've got plenty of questions. The good news is we've made plenty of guides to keep you in the know. This guide is for the new maps, Trenches, Old Town, Thrashball and Checkout.
Trenches
The Trenches is a map that is jam packed with weapons, the one-shot, digger launcher, and more. The map has tons of hiding spots, as its name suggest. It also has a weather element, sandstorms.

Old Town
Old Town offers gamers melons, clock towers, and that homey feel you've been looking for in the Gears universe. Missing from this guide of Old Town, the chickens. We wanted you to experience that gem for yourself.
Thrashball
Augustus Cole, aka the Cole Train, was a thrashball player before Emergence Day. This mutiplayer map takes the battle to the arena. Who knew a crumbling court would make such a great venue to bring the pain?
Checkout
Who wants to go shopping, for locust? I DO! Checkout is a rundown marketplace with firearms and mannequins.
Gears of War 3 is currently in beta for gamers who own Bulletstorm Epic Edition or pre-ordered Gears 3 from GameStop. If you fall into neither category, all you have to do is make some friends by May 8th when gamers in the beta can give their friends codes. You'll have to jump through a few hoops to get the codes, but it's worth it. The beta ends on May 18th.

Black Ops: Escalation is awesome so far! A few minutes ago I came across a blog that's giving out the Escalation DLC for free! I thought it was a scam until I saw the DLC code laying in my e-mail inbox. :D

Sounds like someone got their ass kicked. While I hate getting killed with the sawed-off. It's actually really easy to dodge or get rid of that opponent as most just try and run up to you. The retro lancer makes cake out of anyone trying to rush you with anything. If all else fails jump out or the way or make them miss their shot.
The sawed-off is very powerful, but you have to be extremely close to do anything to anyone and has a long reload time. I've been trying to nit pick and find things they need to fix in this game and while I get pissed one moment, if you step back and look at everything. It's actually pretty balanced.
My only problem so far is when you are in cover and someone slides into cover and hops over, dazing you. Pretty much game over most of the time. I'd like to see a bit of a nerf to that ability.

I agree undahill, jeeshus is probably a some 10 year old complaining because he sux at gears. One of the very few shooters you actually need skill in.Im talking about you CoD and Halo(excluding people who can use grenade geometry). If you don't like the game don't complain. If your trolling well then i get your point and well played, but otherwise stop being a pissant and go back to playing some skiless 1st person shooter.

Yeah Lowkevmic what you are trying to say is that you are a scaredy cat and you need your teammates to hold your hand around the map so they can help you get kills because you are hopeless when you are alone.

Gears Beta is completely BROKEN and UNBALANCED its crap and I hate it. I am a hardcore shooter fan for many many many years now from 3rd person to 1st and I know a good shooter when I play one and this is definitely not one.
Don't even say its a Beta its not suppose to be perfect. Yeah well if Microsoft didn't push Gears 3 back for marketing purposes this is the game you would have gotten and its complete crap. And I really doubt they will fix all the issues of this game because Epic sure is going to nerf shotguns and completely get rid of maps since they are broken and don't make any sense objectively. Thumbs down me I don't care because this is the TRUTH!

I really hope they nerf the sawed-off because it is currently way too powerful. Easily the most abused weapon in the beta.

ok lowkevmic. you play my team and let us grab every power weapon and you guys just use your sawed off shotguns. we'll see who wins the game

Power weapons mean nothing thanks to how they actually made smoke grenades awesome. If you are using an opponent as a meatsheild or have a power weapon. If the other team throws a smoke grenade in your direction and you are stunned by it, you will lose your meat sheild or whatever power weapon you are carrying.
Best tip for the Beta: Stick together as a team, you will always win when you do. Never stop moving. Shotguns are your friend!!

you gotta rush power weapons people. What I love is if you and your team camps you're going to get destroyed b/c the other team is going to pick up power weapons and spawn trap you.
my tip: Play smart and play fast. just b/c theres a cover system doesnt mean its a slow paced game
