Microsoft launched a new website this morning for their Microsoft Game Studios in Vancouver which has allegedly been developing a AAA Kinect Shooter for "core" gamers. According to the website, MGS is, "building a world-class development team in Vancouver, BC, Canada, dedicated to making games for "core" gamers. Our mission is to push the limits of proven and unexplored game development and show the world what's possible on Microsoft's game consoles."
While the website does not specifically mention the Kinect shooter, some Internet detectives have found that a man named Shawn Woods listed Microsoft Game Studios, Vancouver, on his resume and stated that the studio once focused on microtransaction games but, "over the course of the year, our studio strategy has changed and now focuses on developing a core AAA shooter experience using Kinect."
Shawn's resume states his MGS record from February 2010 to the present, meaning the studio has been existence for quite a while but Microsoft remained tight lipped about it. With the studio officially launching only a month before E3, I'd bet we're going to see a Kinect shooter announcement during Microsoft's press conference this year.
Would you play a AAA Kinect Shooter, aimed towards hardcore gamers?
