Microsoft Xbox Live Team Comments On Sony PlayStation Network Security Breach

While the PlayStation Network security breach is sending waves across the video game industry, gamers are inevitably going to worry about other gaming networks. Is your data safe anywhere? While it's probably true that nothing will ever be 100% safe from tampering, other services are undoubtedly going over their security right now in the wake of Sony's incident.

If you're worrying about Xbox Live, Microsoft isn't. They're staying on schedule, in the midst of promotions, with large groups of gamers beta testing some planned system updates. We contacted Microsoft's Xbox Live team and a spokesperson told us:

“It’s business as usual with our previously planned Xbox LIVE promotions and programming. Other than that we have no comment.”

Of course, that "no comment" portion is always the most tantalizing part of the statement. We don't know if Microsoft has come under their own series of attacks, or if they are making behind the scenes changes, but you can be assured that they are paying attention to the situation.

Well, in Microsoft's case they've already been hit so many times pre-Xbox live it's security is that much more robust. I mean for years prior and even now the computer operating system most targeted by hackers and viruses is Microsoft Windows. I pretty sure that Microsoft learned from all of those attacks when they constructed Xbox Live which is probably why it hasn't had an outage like what's happened to PSN. I'm pretty sure that Microsoft is probably is taking notes from the PSN outage and is probably once again revamping the security on their networks as we speak.

Stupid fan boys. Both systems are great. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Plus this has nothing to do with what system is better.

lol, yeah this article was kinda pointless, but whining about G4 because of this is pointless. It's not like they put this as headline news. It's just a side article. and even then, G4 brings plenty of interesting articles and segments like Feedback and Sessler's Soapbox. Love that stuff.

I know you're trying to cover all aspects of this situation with Sony, but there's no need for redundancy. Posting an article to comment on how XBL has no comment about the situation seems like a waste of space. It's like me sending an email about how I won't be sending an email.

the news here , yes, is that xbox has no comment.
they dont have to comment as not to add insult to the competition's situation.
