Rockstar just revealed a ton of new details (and a grip of new screenshots) on long-in-development third-person action game Max Payne 3, including changes to the famous "Bullet-Time" system.
According to Rockstar, Payne's time-slowing, bullet dodging will not be a canned animation as it has been in previous games. Instead, MP 3 uses the Euphoria character behavior system to make Max respond naturally, so if you dive to the ground, Max will put out his arms to break his fall, as well as naturally respond to objects in his way if you attempt to dive into a wall or obstacle.
Max Payne 3 will extend the concept of Bullet-Time too. Now it will include game areas that will trigger set pieces involving Bullet-Time. According to Rockstar, these set-pieces "provide epic moments of action that allow Max to take out enemies in a new interpretation of Max Payne’s signature style." We'll also see the return of Bullet-Cams, for extra-satisfying final kills.
Partners and sidekicks will play a large role in Max Payne 3 too. Rockstar says "Hundreds of hours of custom motion-capture were done for individual characters, making traditional in-game encounters completely unique, such as enemies sweeping a room or simply the way Max’s partners will behave as they move through the game."
According to Rockstar, Max Payne 3 takes the graphic novel panels of the earlier games and " evolves them by utilizing in-game assets to create a motion comic-style approach."

Max Payne 3 features an integrated cover system too. Cover adds an "extra strategic element to the classic shoot-dodge/bullet-time/ run-and-gun mechanics" of the series.
Max Payne 3 will also feature ramped up environmental destruction, with bullets destroying "nearly everything" in the environment, and a greater level of detail than in previous games, including detailed sweat and blood on Max and his enemies. According to Rockstar, "You’ll also notice the minute details of the weapons themselves: hammers cock back, slides move, shells expel from the chamber and literally hundreds more."
So what do you guys think? Are you looking forward to Max Payne 3 with the fervor that I am?

Too bad Remedy (Alan Wake) isn't involved with this one. MP 1 and 2 were pretty damn good.
I love R* but I'm sure MP 3 will be a glitch filled mess with the euphoria engine, but because it's R*, we'll forgive and forget.

Loved the first two games and will love this one I'm sure. Rockstar has a lot more money and assets to make this game so much better than the first two. I can't wait!!!

i played through mp 2 a couple times and really enjoyed the story. I'll keep my eye on this game. I also kinda want Remedy to take back the MP series, though R* has made some really amazing games so who knows R* might have another huge hit on their hands.

I'm not interested in this game at all. From the storyline that I read Max is addicted to pain pills (surprise!) and ends up in South/Central America doing Body guard/merc work. I'm sure it has all something to do with V but looking at the screens and the storyline thus far I don't see it being a real Max Payne game.
From the pics posted I assume you start off as a NYC or DEA Cop again that uncovers the source of V's main component and goes under cover in Central America. Hence the two hairstyles and facial beards.
Also did they reveal a ton of new details? or did they announce a ton of new features? Because I'm not seeing details in this article other then graphics and mechanics which to me is a feature.

I can't wait...i'll never forget Max's drug in-fueled nightmare stage from the first MP. It's probably one of the most uncomfortable levels I have ever played...two questions though:
1.) release date?
2.) How long is the time period in this game? Max has hair in some screens and bald in other.

It all depends on the story. Max Payne 2 was excellent in terms of gameplay and technical execution, but what really stood out for me was the storyline in that game. It was absolutely fantastic. I still remember the emotions I felt the first time I beat the game.
